I’ve looked at Wowhead (which you have to do for every single quest in Shadowlands, because the in-game information is so vague). And I’m not sure how to acquire the Sly pet.
The biggest confusion I have is that I thought I would just track him down to three separate locations, and he’s mine. I tracked him to the first one, following the green footprints, then he ran off. I saw more green footprints and assumed this would be his next location, but no. My companion tracker fox pet disappeared after and Sly is now following me.
But I’ve read some more comments on Wowhead, and apparently, I have to do this over three separate Kyrian assaults.
So, do I have to wait for the next assault, or can I continue tracking him tomorrow, or what? Since he’s following me, do I have to deliver him somewhere? Orator Kloe seems happy that Sly is following me around, but doesn’t seem to want to take him back.
Am I supposed to do something with him?
According to Wowhead it’ll be 1 find per assault:
-
wait for Kyrian Assault
-
speak with Xandria to begin the assault /way 42,8, 44,8
-
speak with Orator Kloe to get the buff Sharp Eyed
-
find and click in 1/3 Sly’s
-
wait for the next Kyrian Assault
-
do it until get 3/3 Sly’s
/way 42,1, 44,5 Orator Kloe
/way 40.71 51.58 Sly 1
/way 38.03 39.73 Sly 2
/way 32.89 44.19 Sly 3

Not just three Kyrian Maw assaults, but three Kyrian Maw assaults in which the quest RNG offers the quest Sharp Eyed (which is definitely not guaranteed every Kyrian assault).
So, at least 3 assaults, but almost certainly more.

Well, thanks for clarifying this, everyone. I should have known that just tracking Sly to three separate locations would be too good to be true.

Also, even after doing all three, you have to wait because Sly will be sent to your mailbox.

Also during the Kyrian assault, sometimes you can get the Sinfall Screecher.

You know, I’m not sure if we ever figured out if there was a ‘trigger’ quest for the Sinfall Screecher to be up?

Thank you. I will look for it. I would have assumed that is a Revendreth pet, given its nature. They seem to be more into the vampire-Goth-type stuff.
I don’t know if this is any kind of help, but I just now got the Sinfall Screecher, it is now during the Kyrian Invasion. I just came to the Maw, found the chain and I have the pet. I did none of the dailies or anything else during this trip to the Maw. In fact, due to Camo and Spirit of Cheetah, I was able to make it to the chain without killing a single thing.
However, I did do all the invasion quests and I tracked Sly to his first location. But I did that two days ago.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up. I’ll write down what quests are up and see if there’s any correlation. Maybe I can figure it out before my sub runs out
ETA: Looks like it might be an inversion of a trigger! Most people seem to report it’s NOT up when the No One Floats Down Here quest is up.

It is, but the Kyrian assault always has a “guest” faction group from Revendreth (at least Duke Theotar and his retinue), and one of the four quests for the assault often (maybe always?) comes from one of them and has Venthyr flavor. (Likewise, the Wild Hunt assault has Maldraxxi guests and quests, the Maldraxxi assault has Kyrian guests, and the Revendreth assault has Ardenweald guests.)
So there’re “lore” reasons for a Revendreth pet to become available in the Kyrian assault.
