Fellow mages. It has come to my attention that Icy Veins stated that the state number one priority for fire mages is haste. HASTE.
I thought that was a frost thing. Fire mages need critical strikes to perform their rotations for pyroblast.
Am I missing something? Could somebody elaborate why haste is needed more than crit strike?
The most important stat for fire mages is mastery >_> (with mastery amps). Crit is generally our worse stat
Sim yourself (Crit is heavily devalued by Searing Touch, enhanced pyrotechnics, etc)
Though the 100% crit build is VERY fun.
Icy veins is incorrect, mostly. Haste is good for mages that are just starting out their gearing. It’s the best stat for single target and it makes the gameplay fun.
What is actually recommended these days is stacking mastery with mastery corruptions. You still pull impressive single target damage while dramatically improving your cleave damage, which is very present in Nyalotha and M+.
Crit is typically our least useful stat. We already have high base crit and our abilities guarantee a crit after so many misses. Also, the vast majority of the time, mages spec into the scorch execute talent, so crit is even less necessary in execute range.
In that case would you recommend mastery ring enchantments?
Yes, that will help you out with cleave damage. Although, I think with your current gear, haste would also be a fine choice. Once you have your mastery corruptions, that’s when mastery is going to completely annihilate haste in terms of stat priority. You should really try to get 3 blaster master azerite pieces as soon as possible due to how they synergize with the mastery corruption.
Until you get at least 3 Masterful 3 your primary stats (as sims will tell you) are haste>vers>mastery>crit. Your enchants should be haste across the board.
Once you get 3 masterful three it changes to mastery>haste=vers>crit.
Crit is always your worst stat.
Thank you all for the help.
No problem.
Given that corruption will be going away when pre-patch comes, if you don’t have 3 masterful 3 already it might be better to focus on haste and vers gear since we’ll all be going back to that when Corruption goes bye bye.
It’s been a while but I THINK when my gear was haste/vers I was running something like 22-23% haste, 15-17% vers, 16-18% mastery.
Depends on what you want to do as fire really but you don’t have rank 3 lucid dreams, hyperthread bracers, and blaster master traits. If you want to stick with fire even into Shadowlands, I would at least get the bracers from Mechagon.
It isn’t on the NoIL build, but it is good for the Orb build
