Confused about transmog Rules. Help please?

I know that for example warriors can’t wear plate specifically for pallies. But when I unlock a weapon or gear piece on my paladin does my warrior get it too? (same for cloth wearers. priest/mage for example.)

Also it just for that specific character, or is it class wide? meaning can a paladin on another server wear it if I unlock it on one?

In another game I can unlock a gear look and use it on anyone and I know WoW’s transmog rules are a lot stricter but I don’t understand how they work even after all this time. Is there a list somewhere of what exactly the rules are and how they work?

If you have a piece that can be worn by any, say plate users, and you equip it to your warrior – if your paladin meets all the restriction (eg, level, class, rep, etc.) then yes they can also use it.

If you are checking in your transmog “closet” for the item after you learned it and it’s not class or rep restricted, but you can’t find it. Double check to make sure the character meets the level requirement. Cause that can prevent the item from showing up if you are too low of a level to use it.

Any plate gear you unlock for transmog becomes part of the transmog library for all your plate wearers, provided they meet any level, reputation and class restrictions the piece has. You will see any class restriction clearly marked on the item when you acquire it.

If the item can be returned for a full refund within a certain time period, it will not be added to the library for other toons until either that time has expired or you have deleted, disenchanted or void-storaged the item.

Also this might help you or another person.

There are level requirements on some gear. To give you an example:

I have a new lvl 34 dark iron warrior AND a lvl 110 warrior. I liked some of the gear/sets from my lvl 110 and tried to transmorg my lvl 33, it wouldn’t let me and only when I tried to transmorg it said required lvl 90.

The same issue when I spend a lot of time crafting the Dark Iron Set from my blacksmith, I couldn’t transmorg because of the required lvl 56-60.

I send a suggestion to Blizzard to add some of those level requirements to the crafting professions. As it is now it has nothing and you assume your toon can wear the item until you try to transmorg and you see that lvl requirement.
