Confused about Artifact Weapon leveling

I don’t know how to phrase my question well enough to be able to google the answer to it, so I gotta ask here -

So, I leveled one artifact ability down to the end of the path. There’s a final ability on the right side with a gold dragon around it, Limits Unbound, and it says “Requires purchasing all other available traits.” Okay, got it.

I’m at the end of the path, Felspike is unlocked, so I go to pick another path. However, “You may only learn one artifact ability at a time,” all four other paths say this, I can’t put points into any of them.

So… what’s going on with this? I can’t put points into anything else, but it definitely seems like I should be able to.

Just had this same issue. I ended up reclicking every single thing it “said” was unlocked and low and behold Erus’s Aggression even tho said it was unlock - clicked in and in chat said I have learned a new passive effect.

I can only really suggest you double check you’ve picked all of the smaller nodes in the first area before going down one of the paths. Maybe you missed one?

Look at your artifact tree.

It looks like a five-pronged trident, right? A big five-tined fork, if you will.

You can only learn one prong/tine. If you want to try another, you have to reset and try the other. You can’t have two.

If you can’t buy a rank of unbound and you have the currency it says it costs then you didn’t buy the last rank of whatever prong/tine you were on. Felspike, whatever. (or something earlier off-path.)

You need everything in the handle and the left before each prong/tine, too. Go back and make sure you actually bought everything. You need EVERYTHING on the left of the paths plus all of one of the four paths.

I’d been wondering the same thing, and after going through all of the earlier items in the “hilt” I noticed one of the abilities was rank 0/1, even though it looked like it was “lit up.” Clicked on that and Limits Unbound lit up.

If you have jewelry that buffs one of those nodes by say 2, you still need to buy “over” the cap up to 5 so that if the buff is removed, you’ll remain at 3.
