In the twitter interview, Danuser has confirmed Dragonriding will be the only way to fly - barring access to your own flying mounts - most likely IMO until the end of the expansion, probably last patch.
Also a whole bunch of stuff that sounds terrible regarding dragonriding - stamina bar, likely grindy system similar to cypher research.
Wait til beta and see if they make dragon riding fun or not before you start worrying about it. If the mount sucks and the grind to unlock it is in some way extreme or unreasonable, there could be serious issues with it. There’s not really a reason to assume that at this point. The ability unlocks could be totally reasonable to work on and the mount itself could be very fun to use.
Blizzard has a track record that makes a lot of people assume the worst, but there’s literally nothing stopping them from making it work well. Ion mentioned his miscalculation of the role of friction in SL, hopefully that means he’s realized that literally every surface in WoW doesn’t need to be made of coarse grit sandpaper.
Remember when they first wanted to take away waterstriding because they wanted people to use their favorite mount rather than the one that allowed them to not be bothered by water hazards?
I don’t think it will be that big of a deal (I hope Dragonriding turns out well), but if not then yes it could be a BIG deal.
Correct me if I am wrong but these new zones are supposed to be MASSIVE. So without decent flying, it will harder to get around? Plus the new zones are more vertical right?
I am not gonna get terribly upset at this right now, but if DR turns out to be bad, then yes, I could see quitting over it.
We are decided. the wife and I arent buying this expansion unless and until flying is activated for our flying mount collection.
IF its at the end of the expansion as youre saying, there literally isnt any reason for us to buy at all. We’ll just wait till DF is free with the subscription.
If it’s even half as good as the GW2 Griffon it’s going to be litty lit lit. Diving down a steep cliff then using that momentum to shoot up past the cloud layer is so much fun.
