Conduits being consumed is a good thing

Why conduits being a consumable is a good thing:

  • Potential for crafted conduits via trade skills; increased economic activity.
  • Ensures you commit to the role you chose in an MMORPG. (Role is not plural.)
  • Reinforces the design philosophy of choices in Shadowlands having long lasting consequences.
  • Shifts the game back to being a role-playing game instead of a follow-the-leader (1%), min-max, efficiency-only game.
  • If there is system to grind conduits, it will be objectively more rewarding for character progression than islands ever were.

I hardly respec at all so conduits won’t be a problem for me. But to everyone else I would like to say, good luck and I wish you nothing but the best.

Why is this a good thing?

This makes no sense. You’re less likely to experiment and have fun if it’s harder to swap them around. You’ll pick the best and leave it.

Grinds for player power have never been well received.

I believe actually the opposite will happen. If it is more punishing to experiment yourself it will push more people to look up these maximum potential builds and just pretty much copy and paste them.

Yeah, I sure do find those conduit choices so RPG like. Long lasting consequences. The best. Never better. So RPG. Grinding is good. I’ve heard that everyone loves grinding conduits. Good choices. The best.

It’ll probably be fine. No one is regemming between pulls, or even bosses, so they won’t be hearthing back to change a conduit either.

Stop it. This is not nor has never been a thing.

You think you would’ve enjoyed the Azerite System if the trait you swapped away from got straight up deleted from your piece if you ever changed it?

So what you’re saying is you’re fine locking powers being grinds or paywall.
You’re fine with not letting people play their spec/class how they want.
You’re fine with wanting to punish players.

People need to wake up, there’s a reason why rp servers are a minority. Most wow players don’t care about RP much if it will make their experience worse.

If they made servers without covenants locks or conduits getting destroyed those would be the most populous servers. :man_shrugging:

People are going to min max regardless. As long as spell rotations, items, talents, gear, etc are in the game, people are going to min max. Not being able to freely swap conduits is only going to make it harder for people that don’t min max to get into groups that do. It’s going to separate players even more, which means casuals will see even less content.

People want to optimize their characters. That has nothing to do with your grudge against “the 1%” cliche

It literally sounds like the only people vocally in support of this system are people with grudges against this make-believe-1% demographic. Some spiteful forum heroes around here man.

No. I play with many people in my guild. One of them is a good friend. We raid together and we are both healers. It’s annoying not to be able to do content with her because a five man only requires one healer. Right now i can switch to and do effective dps to be able to play with her.

It is literally anti-social.

gems and stat weights are going to have vastly different impacts on your throughput.

If I can’t use my warrior to main tank and off spec Fury I’m gonna have a really bad time because I actually like playing all aspects of the game, thanks. Conduits as they are are horrible. Consumable conduits are a mistake that punishes people for playing their entire class like legiondaries and az armor. Don’t @ me.

No it’s not.

People hate doing chores before they get to the content they enjoy.

Simple as that. You telling them they really secretly love it isn’t going to change a thing.

Yep sure. IF it turns out they can be crafted, which we haven’t seen yet.

This sort of makes sense. However, when you consider how blizzard is pushing General Class fantasy and CLASS WIDE stuff, this doesn’t work. So if i play Ret, and my team needs me to heal, and i like to help heal, i have to heal with Ret Conduits or refarm those later?

It Doooooooesssss do this but also it makes making the wrong choice punishing. What if you were using a conduit you really liked, and it got mega nerfed, so you swapped, and then the old one got buffed, so you have to refarm it. Gross

Unfortunately i don’t think it does this. People will still follow the IcyVeins guides once they hit cap (not everyone, but a large % for sure will)

Yes, but i think it depends on how that system works. If you are Guarenteed to get a conduit from a boss, and it’s predictable, then yes. If you have a CHANCE of getting one, then no.

Also if i have to do arena for my BIS conduit i’ll be a rather unhappy girl.

Oaken i told you earlier that you secretly love doing chores WHY DON"T YOU LOVE THEM YET!!!?!!
