I’m very disappointed because I was planning on playing priest because I wanted a class I could swap back and forth between DPS/Heal depending on what content I was doing or felt like playing(or just to get groups as a healer).
Venthyr’s 1st tree is going to be the best for pvp on both specs but since I can’t swap the conduits out (which will increase damage/healing by a huge percentage) freely with the 1 week cooldown, I will be forced to play a worse tree whenever I pvp as 1 of those specs.
I have already joined a guild to raid as Disc ,so I’m pretty much forced to play spriest without conduits untill I have enough renown to unlock a 2nd tree(which will gimp my damage untill then) . So basically I am forced to main a SPEC instead of a class now. Do they expect me to make seperate toons for ONLY healing and ONLY dps? I am very disappointed with their approach

blah, blah, blah, impactful
I’m hoping they remove the one week lock out on conduits.
I just don’t understand why you cant have separate conduits for each spec, like glyphs/talents. I’m fine with being Venthyr or whatever, and making it so I cant change covenants easily for “identity” purposes. The conduits however are more akin to glyphs/talents which should be spec based, not class based
From my understanding is when you pick a Covenant you have access to all 3 pages and can switch between which ones you want to use. Some of them are more DPS oriented than others.
Whats ridiculous is, based off your statement, 2 of the 3 trees are locked behind “renowned” which is im sure a timegated grind. So in the beginning, they expect tanks to use healer trees, dps use tanks and so forth.
Maybe the conduit locking would work if it was a class like monk, where you have a healer/melee dps and different trees are going to be the best for each spec. Since priest’s specs are both CASTERS, the interrupt reduction on Venthyr is so incredible, that only being able to use it on 1 of the specs is not a good situation to force us players into.
I’m interested in how the Druids will react for those that play all 4 specs… with only 3 soulbinds lol.
Guess you have to double up or have 1 craptastic spec if you want to participate in the full range of your class.
Then with DH’s, they have a bit more flexibility with only 2 specs. So they can perhaps make 1 soulbind dedicated for tanking and 2 dedicated for 1 as PvP and other and PvE or Raids vs 5 man etc.
So much wackiness.
I think it would be “acceptable” although not without its fair share of outcry if the conduit swapping would be a daily CD instead of Weekly.
I myself have been trying different combinations on beta and find that I don’t like X because it doesn’t flow or straight up work. In that event, I just sigh and just move on to a different toon to mess around with and wait until the lockout is clear before touching that toon again.
Then you have to take into consideration that you may be locked in and cant reset for 7 days… then you get a new conduit that you didn’t have before… but you have to wait a week before making use of it… awesome lol.
I highly suspect the cooldown for swapping conduits will get changes quite quickly to be daily / hourly / removed outright given the few examples I listed alone.

Very eloquently put my friend. Hoping for changes too so I can help the raid with heals while also having fun playing the new shadow in pvp
How hard is it to rank up the Soulbinds and stuff? Also, from what I understand is you have to run the campaign to unlock the different pages which should all be available by the time you max level.
Conduits are probably the most restrictive system I’ve played in this game, unfortunately. While the Legion weapons and BfA azerite resulted in a weaker/suboptimal OS early on, the soulbind system outright restricts optimal conduits for offspec and alternative content areas.
If I’m main spec shadow for raid, m+, and arena, I’ll likely want to use more than one soulbind to play each properly. This leaves me with one soulbind for Holy, which I’ll mostly be using for m+ and arena. Fortunately, I don’t enjoy disc too much, but if I did I’d be SOL. Even then, I’ll be using a weaker soulbind for holy and non-raid shadow, and I won’t be able to optimize holy’s conduits for different content areas.
The issue becomes more complicated in that the individual soulbind trees are absolutely not balanced at all. I’m expecting more changes in the coming weeks, as we have seen quite a bit of covenant/conduit changes lately, but as it stands your offspec/“alt” content will be taking a hit. It’s a bad feeling, imo, and the weekly cooldown is the biggest thing I hope sees a change. You also gotta remember that there’s a decent chance your offspec will not have their best covenant ability, so the gap becomes even wider. I’m a huge fan of being able to heal/DPS, so this particular system hurts.
We don’t really know yet. If you check on WoWhead, an RNG system for upgrading conduits was added, but I seriously doubt it will be the only or primary way of doing so. Rather, I think it will be an alternative method of finding or upgrading existing conduits. I’m not sure what you mean by pages - the individual soulbind characters?
