Is there any reason the conduit item drops can’t take the ones in your bags into account when determining the one you get? Just playing through the 9.1 campaign netted me 3 duplicates simply because I didn’t immediately return to my covenant to learn it.
It’s even worse when you take into account that the ones that drop from reward boxes are determined when you GET the box instead of when you open it so you can get duplicates for a conduit you already know.
Yes, I’m aware. Why is that the case though? Having to constantly return to my covenant while I’m trying to continue the campaign just doesn’t feel great.
There could be coding added to prevent duplicates. However, I suspect that duplicates are a major part of Blizzard’s process. They keep you playing longer. Get three duplicate conduits and you’ll try again tomorrow. Get duplicate items from the Great Vault and you’ll try again next week.
Even as people grumble about duplicates, they will continue because they keep you playing more.
Then give them a sell price, or at least code in a check so that if the blasted thing is “already known” I don’t have to type in delete every single time.
If it’s a bug, then it’s been a thing since 9.0. I distinctly remember getting conduits I just learned from opened boxes. Like I said earlier, it appears that the game determines the loot from boxes the moment you receive the box and not the moment you open it.
This issue was also present in callings caches conduit upgrades in 9.0, although it was not as noticeable as 9.1, in which we more often earn multiple chests in one round of activities.
The solution is unfortunately to return to your sanctum any time you obtain a conduit (whether upgrade or new type). If you earn a cache that may contain a conduit, open it immediately to see if it does contain a conduit, because the conduit is generated at the time the cache is generated. Otherwise, you may miss out on an upgrade or new conduit type.
