Concerned that prestige or "flex" items are being devalued by Blizzard

The experience in the game and the people I’ve met are 100% the real prize. That being said, dismissing all trophy items as meaningless just seems wrong. I don’t disagree with what you are saying, It’s easy to look back as a veteran player and see things differently, but do you remember what it felt like to be a new player and fall in love with this game? To enter into a completely different world with its own history, to see a player with something you think looks cool but its origins lost to time, leaving nothing but a trophy and the mythology the players create around it. Made it feel like I was joining a real place with history and residents. So what If in the end it all turned out to be illusions? So what if Naxx40 wasn’t as hard as people said it was. Encountering stuff like that enriched my experience. Sure my WoW account isn’t worth anything in the end but the fact that a videogame once made me so invested and immersed isn’t worthless. This nothing matters attitude is just such a bummer.

99% of those items aren’t prestige or flex items, as you just bought them with money or got them for free just by being there, typical fomo business crap. As for achievment rewards from actual challenge content, they said they wouldn’t be adding those as just a way to straight up get them without doing the content.

I still believe there should be no prestige above base completion.
No mounts, no pets, no titles. Give an achievement to the snowflakes and let them go on their way.

It’s just pixels kid.
Let other kids play with those toys, too. They won’t take away your toys when they get the same stuff to play with.

Buying a digital deluxe item isn’t a “flex”.

And flexing with a collection of pixels that probably never get pulled out of the bank/collections tab is a weak flex.

People like you are the kind of people that also flex meaningless things. You flex your car, wife, husband, house, money, family, anything ever? It’s pointless in the end, stop acting like you’re a superior being who never flexes anything, because by your standards nothing is worth flexing.

And what exactly have I flexed here?
I dont have time to worry about someones opinion of what I have or dont have child.
I havent even mentioned anything about my personal life here so idk where you got that assumption from lol.
The only thing I commented on was the goals in life between men and women are very different.
And yeah like I said pixels dont matter and no one cares probably should read more before chiming in.

Read my post before you reply, just by reading this I can tell you didn’t read it/

2 Red flags right here. First off I didn’t say anything about you caring about my opinion, do what you want but just know everyone flexes and you are a hypocrite. While I don’t know you personally, I’d bet money you flex things from time to time and by your logic you think it’s pointless to do such a thing.

Second red flag was calling someone a child, imagine calling someone with an opinion about you a “child”

I think my post went over your head…

First off no thank you, I don’t feel like reading 189 posts, I can just go off what you said in your post I quoted. Second, I’ll repeat myself for you, nothing matters at the end because it all goes away (this is by your standards).

You assumed.

Which I didnt even once.

Actually people flex for specific reasons which was my point and only people in the younger generations teens-20s pull the old humble brag generally to impress the
opposite sex.
That being said when have you ever heard someone state the following.
“You got a job at wendys? Lol scrub I work at mcds!”

I think you skimmed read got triggered.

See the above.

No, you were asking what you flexed in this forum but my post was about you flexing IRL OR in game. Thus leading me to believe that you did not read.

Yea I’m sure you’ve never flexed anything in your life buddy.

What an old person way to describe flexing. You don’t flex to “attract the opposite sex”, we aren’t in National Geographic™ lol. You can flex whenever, it’s a general thing…

I’m not really sure where you got this from. You can flex whatever ig.

“Triggered” are you trolling? Sad attempt if you are lol

Yikes can’t even defend yourself calling another person names, you just say “ummmm actually you’re triggered”. Do you just call everyone triggered that doesn’t agree with you?

This might shock you but not everyone seeks fb likes and posts everything online.
I sure dont at most I use msnger and anyone who should know anything about my personal life knows it because we meet in person.

You definitely are a child maybe not by age but by naivety and lack of awareness.
It would do you some good to give my other posts a read, the social interactions are situational.
For a teen/early 20s its all about the brand newer the better “keepin it fresh” until they start careers.
Then its just more expensive and they eventually grow out of it and the person matters more than the stuff.
Ive been studying people and social interactions for decades always amusing.

And your last 3 posts yeah you got triggered lol.
I totally wrote the comment that set you off days ago in advance hoping it would be read by you. :man_facepalming:

There are no “red flags”, you started to question him and he gave you an answer. His game is simply “flex is waste of time” and I do agree with him on this. Blizzard brought this upon themselves with too much reliance on FOMO and that it got to a point where it’s hurtful.

I assume you hang on your pixels, yes? If I may ask, if so, what are your compensating for what you cannot get in RL?

Fully agree. It’s ridiculous how protective some wow players are of their pixels, be it playable races, mounts, transmoggs you name it. Pretty toxic in my opinion. As if their experience in the game would get worse when other people get access to the same stuff.

I’m starting to suspect that you are trolling, you literally just quoted me saying “IRL” and then proceeded to say that not everyone does social media for likes.

What are you even talking about?

This coming from the person that called me a child, then when I called you out for it called me “triggered”? IDK about that one bud…

Yea let me dedicate the next few hours of my life to read all 4k posts you’ve made…

If you think people “grow out” of showing off their things then you need to go back to the library with your:

clears throat and imitates Thôr’s voice Actually I’ve been training for the past 30 years, studying the human brain and how it reacts to social situations. I’ve been waiting for someone to reply to my opinion with their opinion so that I can call them triggered, because if I call them triggered then that means they will be! coughs after having to do a nasalize voice

Yes, but we can still help them by making them realize that they are the generic “too much caught up in a video game”-person you read or hear on the TV.

It’s fine to have a gaming hobby but if you are starting to defend a digital item, which has no quantity limit, then there is something wrong. It’s Blizzard’s fault in manipulating and fostering this kind of behavior, by making people obsessed with something they don’t own.

Skipping over the repeat rant there.

The snarky context of you posts is what tells me your quite angry over a post made 2 days ago.
The inability and willingness to even make the attempt to read my later posts for a full context which you partly agreed with I find hilarious.

I do apologize for my generation’s behavior. Always feels bad to see people acting like they have a race in this. Blizzard wins by default, always.

Idk what about my opening post set them off but its interesting,I mean I literally said its all meaningless like 5 or so posts down from it.
Even going so far as to say no one cares about the op sitting around on their glad mount. :man_shrugging:

…You can just go up to them and just say hi. I don’t see why you need a rare mount to have this be there when it’s there by nature of Online games.

And?.. Those players still have those things, their not being taken away.

Don’t you think you’re taking this a little dramatic? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

It’s just pixels mate and it’s always been a business transaction. I know some of us don’t want our illusion to be shattered, but at some point, we have to realize that. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it or anything.

…Which is why you shouldn’t be attached to rarity, uniqueness, exclusion, or basicly limiting how many people can use it. Because that’s a fickle relationship. Console fanboys can tell you that.

I got the flame-glaives because i like the looks of it and to me, it was worth the weeks being put in. If somebody else got them though a twitch stream, then big whoop. They got cool looking glaives, i still got mine, their cool looking glaives, who cares if it’s not artificially scarce anymore? I ain’t gonna blow up. :man_shrugging:

I still have my memories about it, wasting away days with pots, looking at guides on looking up and what not. I still have my memories being super happy about it. And i still have my memories about my friend… not being happy with it, since everybody else is getting them but them.

No, the core part of why people play MMO’s is basically fun. They find the fun in it.

I play wow for fun. Everybody does that.

True. It is sometimes a bit concerning how wow players get regularly meltdowns over their pixels. This thread is still relatively harmless compared with other stuff I saw here on the forums, where players didn’t want to share their beloved pixels.
