Concern with Profession Knowledge

At this point some people that have leveled their professions from the beginning of the expansion have it maxed.

Any new knowledge point is now added to the tab but there is nowhere to expend.
Would be nice to get a clarification from Devs about this Dragonflight Knowledge Points and if they aren’t going to be used further for War Within.

Also, time to add a real catch up mechanism, and I mean, for REAL at this point so people starting a new character in S4 can max their professions before the new expansion, and later whomever wants to start a new profession can come back and do it without having to spend months doing it.

(new FOMO unlocked).

Edit: there will be new tress and new TWW knowledge points to spent so DF points will not be used:

From what I saw, profession knowledge and specializations will reset in TWW. Source.
I think this is what you were asking - if not, apologies.

I do think they need to revisit the profession catch-up mechanic, though. Should allow people who started late to keep up with everyone else, with a little extra effort.

Wow that’s nice. I haven’t keeping up with TWW and that is a good news indeed. No more FOMO lol.

I also didn’t know this until recently, but you can spend 10 extra knowledge points for 25 artisan’s mettle at these NPCs in Valdrakken.

We’ll have fresh profession trees to spend points in, but they’re not going to just wipe out our DF profession knowledge.

Starting new trees is going to be a big turn off

I don’t see it as being different than in past expansions.

You need six max level characters to cover 11 professions. Master of all achievement and the bonus of being self sufficient. Professions in DL were much more extensive than in previous expansions. I don’t think i will go again.

I only do alchemy. I pay others to craft my gear.

If they do allow players, that have over capped points to spend, to carry over to TWW expansion professions I expect a lot of the player base that do not have that currently to complain and be really opposed to it.

In the past they have not allowed such things since they revamped the profession system to be started fresh for each new expansion. I imagine it would be highly unlikely to happen, especially considering the amount of player base that this is not the case for.

Each new expansion has always been a ‘reset’ for professions. TWW won’t be any different. After all, we’re gaining Dragon Isles profession knowledge currently, not just generic ‘profession knowledge’. It’s already stated to be exclusive to DF so any new expansion will have its own profession knowledge to go along with it.

Why do you need to cover all the proffessions?

Also, as someone who maxed out my BS like, a year ago I’d appreciate it if blizz did something with the like 90 spec points I’ve got floating around. Like give me a title or some gold or something.

I seen this when it was introduced, but as someone that has every crafter maxed and some crafters have 400+ knowledge points in excess what they need to craft every sub-tree. I thought the exchange rate was a little too low, coupled with the fact almost all my crafters have close to 20,000 mettle as it is after two years.

Just not enough crafting orders are being made and the few that would cost the crafter an arm to make because they are no mats orders with no pay out to cover cost. I think lowering the public orders from 20 to 4 and then making it so people wanting things could put up orders for basically free hurt crafting.

I know this isn’t quite on topic re knowledge points, but about crafting anyway… it would be nice if Dragonflight crafted gear could be used as a base for TWW crafted gear… at least for the early stuff. Could be only gear made with sparks so players couldn’t go overboard, but would be a way of using up excess mats going forward.

There are two special vendor near the group of npcs that sends you on weekly professions quests. A blood elf and a gnome dressed in brown. You can exchange KPs for mettle. 10 pts for 25 mettle.

Master of all achievement and crafting your own stuff

you can spend excess knowledge at a vendor next to the work order stations to buy mettle

I would expect them to be reset, otherwise people like me would be going into the new expansion with 150-200 knowledge points.

That would be incredibly unbalanced. I assume they will either reset them or keep them specific to DF professions and we will get a unique set of knowledge points

Character progression and a sense of an evergreen progression of your avatar were given up a long time ago with the first and subsequent squishes.

Scaling everything is much less work than designing zones meant for certain levels.

Now they just reset everything as if you had never played and you get to start over.

BTW are we gong to get TWO pathfinders now?

I don’t care much what they do in War Within but I do hope there’s gonna be some catch up mechanics.
