I am really concerned that Blizz will turn WoW into Diablo Immortal with crazy micro-transactions.
Diablo Immortal is probably making crazy amounts of money right now. There is gonna to be a huge amount of pressure to do the same with WoW.

WoW didn’t become more pay-to-win when Hearthstone was released. They’re two different genres of games.
Considering they designed DI to have a cash shop power progression that was not based on gear so they could answer the question “Is it pay to win?” disingenously with “You cannot buy gear for money”, I’m going to guess you have a valid concern.
I don’t think you understand how massive of a change would have to be implemented in WoW for this to happen.
This is not a valid concern.
I don’t think you’ve got anything to worry about. WoW is a paid subscription game. Could I see them adding more cosmetics to the store? Sure, probably. Gross in its own right, but not a bridge they haven’t crossed already. But pay to win stuff to the degree of DI? Nah, no way. Not without completely retooling how character and gear progression works in WoW. In which case, bye bye, players!
Still amazes me execs thought it was a good idea to take all the most hated practices that are well documented and stuff them in the game.
Then I see how much money they made in just a few days and realize gamers are still a pretty dumb lot.
I don’t think you’ve been paying attention to subtle changes over the past few years that have been designed to increase token sales in the game to encourage paid carries.
They overdid it with PvP this expansion. It was blatantly obvious that PvP was pay to win in season 1, and participation is now at an all-time low.
It’s totally in your face anytime you do content that you’d be getting better rewards if you paid for them. But not only that, the cash shop is the only way to get your gear up to end game quality. Even if free to play customers reach end game they will be trashed by the big spenders.
As long as WoW has a sub, it’ll never have the level of monetization that DI has.
I would be less worried about WoW and more worried about Diablo 4 lol.
I agree with you on this.
Diablo has a sub called “Boon of Plenty”.
Diablo Immoral has at least 21 different currencies and 3 different subscription plans, err…game passes.
OP,
I’m more concerned about WoW’s future with the developers they have repackaging old content as new content than I am about it turning into a mad money grabbing game like DI.
They can do both,
They could, but it would be more difficult with wow than with a new mobile game. The funny part is the fact that there would be customers who would defend such a move.
That isn’t the same thing. To even play WoW, you have to have a sub. DI is F2P.
…
Diablo Immortal is a mobile game. So it’s going to use a very different model of MTX than almost any other game. So no, the WoW team isn’t going to adopt the Diablo Immortal model to this game. If they were thinking about doing that, they’d have done it years ago.
I’d even go so far as to say as long as WoW is not mobile game, it’ll never have the level of monetization that DI has.
These monetization strategies are rampant in mobile games and honestly it’s nothing really new.
I’ll just hang up my hat and move to another game
I wonder how long Diablo can sustain itself. The players will be fickle, I’d think.
