Had to have some major computer repairs , I had a couple fans failing and some other issues and I made some upgrades, but the real crux of my post is the fact that the technician told me that Ram is super expensive now.
He said " the manufacturers are focusing their efforts on making AI chips and they aren’t making lots of ram , so ram has become very expensive’. He also said " I upgraded somebody to 128 gig the other day and it costed 600$"
No doubt AI chip manufacturing is getting government subsidies or something , but I hope they don’t completely forsake making ram in the process.
They’re still making RAM. They’re probably making more of it than they ever have before. They’re just not selling it to the general public because they can make significantly more (perhaps an order of magnitude or more) profit by selling it to an industry with an effectively unlimited demand that’s fueled by an effectively unlimited amount of money, and everyone’s trying to cash in before the reality of the situation hits and the whole thing collapses under its own weight once they realise they need customers who can (and want to) actually access the system.
