Hello,
I have the weirdest error. I had a forced restart to update Windows 11, and now if I play wow for about 20ish minutes, my computer will misinterpret my keyboard inputs (pushing 2, computer things its ctrl 2). Once this problem happens Its not just in wow. If I go into a web browser the same happens, it doesnt think I’m pressing 2. I have to force restart to get this bug to go away
If i don’t play wow, the error doesnt happen. I let my computer is on desktop for 2 or 3 hours and the error wasn’t there. I logged into wow and about 20 minutes in I get the error. I have tried using different keyboards, with different cables, in different usb ports. I can replicate the error with the different combiatnions.
Talk about jumping conclusions… Did you stop to think that maybe the Windows update caused an external program, like Corsair’s iCue, to break functionality and that the software needs to be updated?
I received the forced update today as well. I keep my laptop up to date and check daily for any updates for all of my programs. I had some issues after the forced update as well so no, it isn’t jumping to conclusions.
I’ve been reading your posts for years, Jetsum. It’s not like you to blindly blame something on a Windows update without asking basic troubleshooting questions.
When I search for 22H2 causing keyboard input errors, I find nothing. I find some random complaints from 20H2, back in 2020, but nothing recent.
I know this may sound silly, but have you checked your keys for a button or two that may be sticking? From what I see it may be a windows 11 thing but never hurts to rule out external stuff.
I thought about bringing that up, but they say they’ve tried different keyboards.
99.999% positive that it’s not. It’s most likely a bad bind/macro in a mouse/keyboard software bugging out. Could that software bug been caused by a Windows update? Sure… But the Windows update is not the problem, the software is. Update, disable or remove the software and see if the issue persists.
You can disable programs from starting with windows by right clicking the start menu icon>task manager>startup tab>disable anything related to mouse and keyboard controls. These would be programs like Logitech GHub, Corsair iCue, Razer Synapse and so on. Restart the computer, open the task manager, verify that none of those apps are currently running in the processes list and test to see if the issue went away. If they opened up anyways, even after disabling them from autostarting, you’ll need to go into the services and disable them there. I’m not going to type up the steps because you can Google how to do that.
Yes, with the keys not registering even with new and other keyboards. It is an intermittent issue though and only since the new evaluation version of 22H2 was forced. I went back to the prior build and it didn’t occur, then was forced again to update and it started occurring again.
I even posted in Microsoft Teams about the issue since it is an evaluation version I am on.
Bad driver or bad software, not a Windows problem. Anyways, this isn’t a WoW issue, this is a driver or Windows issue, so you guys will have to take it up somewhere else. Again, best advice: Update your mouse/keyboard software and drivers, if that doesn’t work, disable the 3rd party programs like GHub/iCue/Synapse/etc. If that still doesn’t work, find them in your device manager, uninstall them, plug them back in and use the default Microsoft drivers for them.
