I am NO technology person. I can turn the computer on/off, click on WoW to fire it up and maybe send some emails. That’s about it!
This old HP Pavilion I play on is NO where near adequate for the game now. When I load in Boralus it’s a 5 minute load process and once I can see my character, on the screen, I’m operating at 2 FPS.
I have tried to read threads about computers to use for WoW but tbh…I don’t understand ANY of the “codes” and it reads like gibberish to me.
So…that being said…can anyone just rattle off a decent Make and Model of desk top computer that will get me over 2FPS in Boralus?
My budget is under $600 so I know I’m not looking at a top of the line Alienware machine…I don’t need that!
Any suggestions would be appreciated for this casual gamer that HATES lag and low FPS.
You can probably find a pre-built gaming rig (don’t buy a laptop) at Best Buy that will blow whatever you’ve got currently out of the water. May not be perfect, but it’ll be a definite improvement.
Lag is one issue most can’t help if the system you have is old then you’ll have to upgrade but 2fps is way too low try doing 30 or 60.
I have NEVER played this game (since vanilla) with more than 30FPS…I can’t even imagine what HIGH FPS would look like. ![]()
High fps is around 100,I did do the high but my system is older now (have to upgrade soon). The more effects and wow system patchs cause more problem now for me.
It’s awesome at 70 and 80 and even 90 ( never have managed to hit ultra) until the next xpack or update then it’s back to lower end fps. lol
With the price of cards nowadays, cheaper to buy a new machine.
Any recommendations on a specific machine I can go in, point at the box, take it home and set up to play?
Dell sell cheap Desktop gaming computers for under $600. You get a warranty, support etc.
They are not top end but you’ll see a massive improvement over 2fps.
Edit: I just checked and the price has gone up to $699 for the entry level gaming PC.
Best buy (mentioned earlier) has good deals. I think they have one…CyberPowerPc. I just looked and they do, 599.00
I also looked under the 250. to 499.00 and there’s 2 listed there as well.
1 for 499.00 and 1 for 479.00
thank you folks for your suggestions. I appreciate it.
I’d probably start watching deal sites, but I didn’t see anything good up on SD. I cheaped out on my last PC and got an open box on a closeout from my local Microcenter for really cheap. Might check local inventories.
check for any mom n pop shops in your area, you can probably go to them, tell em what you do and your budget and they can put one together for you, and then you got a place to take it if you run into any problems.
admittedly, these kind of business are a dying breed (I was a tech myself), but some should still be out there. doesnt hurt to look into one.
Just make sure the processor is at least a last gen i5, 8Gb of ram, and a dedicated nvidia mx card.
That is enough, and on budget.
I’ve been reading reviews online since I started this thread and Holy Jesus…my head hurts. BECAUSE…I don’t know what any of this stuff is, does or means! So…if I could ask…one of you computer knowledgeable folks to look at THIS setup from Best Buy and give me some feedback I would be very appreciative. Please, keep in mind I KNOW this isn’t a “top notch” setup BUT according to the reviews it IS upgradeable in the future and I am POSITIVE it has to play this game better than my current system.

I concur. Check online for something already put together that is in your budget. Anything you buy “of the shelf” will likely be better than the outdated box you are using now.
This PC will do you just fine, it even has an SSD which I would recommend you install WoW on.
I’m assuming you are looking at this:

Which will work just fine for you.
Thank you very much.
If you can afford another $150, it will definitely be worth it for bestbuy [dot] com/site/ibuypower-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i5-9400f-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1650-super-1tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-black/6400463.p?skuId=6400463
You might consider a site like NewEgg over BestBuy.
EDIT: I’ll see if I can find a better system.

This would be the most comparable system. I’m not entirely happy with the price compromises, I was really happy with the price performance point I got on my PC from Microcenter.
