im not sure what the issue is, but when i am playing wow sometimes the computer will completely freeze and lock up. ctrl alt del doesnt work i have to use the power button to reset the computer. on my amd software it shows that there is plenty of free operating room on my cpu, gpu, and ram. i have 16g ram so i wouldn’t think that would be the issue.
unsure how to proceed or pinpoint what the problem may be?
things tested: windows memory test no problems detected. i uninstalled the drivers from 11/15 and installed the 10/28 release. i just did this so perhaps this might be a fix. other then that i havent tried anything else because i don’t really know how to test for hardware failures. my temperatures when playing are also in the normal range.
I’m seeing a good number of these hang/freeze threads on the forum. Makes me think this might be more game issue than system issue. Saying that we should take a look at your DXDiag system report. See if anything looks off there:
Only the DXDiag is required. Ignore the MSinfo section.
Let the DXDiag run until the green loading bar is finished. Then use the Save Information button.
That will be a wall of text - paste it on Pastebin.com then provide the link. To post links on forum you will need to contain them in a code block. Highlight link then use the </> function on the chat header bar.
thanks for reply. another thing is this issue has only happened with wow i have played most games out and never had this. i have about 90 hours in wow and i would say it has happened about 5 times. below is the code. im not sure what to paste the file is a lot of information.
There was a tread a few days ago where the 22.5.1 driver fixed some issues. I can’t seem to find that driver for your RX 5600XT. You could roll back to the 22.5.2 driver:
When you are installing try to opt out of the AMD User Experience Program. Ideally less bells and whistles software bloat is what you aim for.
Important - Have the driver download ready to go. Before you run the AMD clean uninstall tool disable Wireless or unplug the Ethernet cable. Prevents Windows from instantly installing a driver.
I’m off forum for the xmas eve dinner - will be back later this evening
rolling back drivers to previous seems to have fixed the problem for me. i played yesterday and didnt have it freeze. i also deleted the details add on and currently have no add ons. so not quite sure if it was the rollback on driver or the add on i might play with the add on tonight to test it.
