Trying to help my spouse out with World of Warcraft so I’m writing this on her behalf.
She likes WoW a lot and has been playing a very long time. She had always played druids mostly because she enjoyed playing the Cat but mostly for how versatile they were even though she really never used anything other then the cat form.
She is a bit worried as over the years she feels that she is not playing the class to its potential as a feral cat. She is having issues a lot of times doing her dotting rotations and keeping them up, etc. She went through guides, addons, etc but sometimes it’s too much for her.
As far as we could tell Druid cats do require “effort” at least for dotting. So she is wondering what might be a class that offers a very minimal rotation that is also decent farming class.
She does like doing PvP, Dungeons, and LFR from time to time depending how her energy level is.
That being said she likes farming, doing old content, fishing, gathering, etc.
She like to make this new class her main and only Character as she would retire and shelf the druid. Because of the compression issues she can’t play more then one class at a time. I even suggested just the druid to fly around to mine/herb but that was a very stressful thought.
If anyone can come up with suggestions or ideas I love to share it with her and come up with a plan.
From my Research I was thinking DH might be not a bad choice. Sounds like they just spam one button and hit a couple GC’s without the maintenance of the dots. I think she might find their glider features and such fun overtime once she gets the hang of it.
Sadly I think the Stealthing part would be a loss for her but then Rogue’s from my research not something I think she could play as well and a bit more complex. I mean right now all she uses is shred? the none dot move and bite and some cool downs. She really does not like the none instant stuff (dots).
Hunters are a good go to,they’ve been considered the ideal beginner class given how accessible and easy to learn their rotations are. Plus,if she can’t be a kitty cat,she can have one as a pet! Beast Mastery is an easy to learn spec.
Not sure i can be of too much help but i will give it a shot.
I do play all of the classes so i can see how there might be issues, it seems like something with a relatively easy rotation but there are 2 classes that i think are easy compared to the others in terms of most bang for the buck.
Paladins and Demon Hunters. I think they are exactly what you are looking for. And with Paladins you can choose your role just like with Druids but everything is a bit easier to do at least in my opinion. Simple rotations, simple cd’s and easy to do well with.
Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for.
This post makes me sad because I’ve always loved feral druids, and I feel they’ve always gotten the short end of the stick, because they are too much like rogues.
I wish Blizzard would focus real talent on class identity.
Most classes are very easy, but if you want to worry about not dieing (assuming it’s pvp) then anything other than caster.
I wouldn’t advise hunter over a demon hunter, as the dh is much easier, as is ww monk. Paladin is worth a mention as is warrior.
A lot of people like to advise new players or people who want an easy class that hunter is best. I guess that’s the reason there are so many jokes about bad hunter players, they’re easy to play, hard to master.
In short, DH is great for a really really simple style. I love mine that I use to farm.
Warlocks used to be a bit complicated but thanks to the Great Pruning they’re stupid simple now. You have four dots to worry about, one of which you can make permanent through the talent tree. Outside of that you have Shadow Bolt, Death Bolt if you spec into it, and the tentacle monstah that’s on a long cool down. Not including your HoA powers.
I vote DH as well.
Easy to play, moves quickly if you want it too, and a lot of fun.
No DoTs to manage, strong abilties, and double jump-glide is a life saver.
Just stay druid but play balance spec. You basically only use 4 buttons and she will still have cat form for stealth. Moonfire and Sunfire you can macro so it’s basically only 3 buttons and those hit multiple mobs automatically so not much work to do.
I’d agree with Paladin too. However you’d have to help her build more passively.
If she does go Ret pal I’d recommend ilvl/Mastery/Haste and go Vision of Perfection as her main essence (and the other two storyline rank 3/4 ones as her minors).
Big uptime on Avenging Wrath. She can actually use the same Azerite build on DH too and be able to use Metamorphosis often.
Thanks everyone. We had a talk and she is leaning more to the DH. She wished they would start at level 1 haha. She like the slow intro to characters.
The reason she is not as happy with the Hunter is because as much she loves the cute fur balls they are distracting for her. The way I got from it their a passive dot in a sense or an active dot either way and something she has to look after even though you don’t.
Sadly with her Brain Fog stuff I can’t ever be in her shoes but I do understand that she had a lot of difficulties.
She likes the Idea of the DH a lot though she might move slower to start with and not be some sort of speedster as she put it.
I agree with her choice. I play everything and from what you’re describing I’d recommend DH also. Havoc is a lot of fun but if she’s dying a lot then switch to Vengeance, it’s till fun but tough as nails. The mobility can’t be beat, even better than a Druid.
It sounds like she’s already made her decision with Demon Hunter, but I recommend Ret to anyone who wants something that’s easy-going. It’s got a nice flow to it!
I have Rake and Rip as big bars that drain over time with a numerical value in the middle giving me the exact value of it’s uptime. This is per target, so if I switch to a target with my dots not up those bars aren’t visible.
Im at work but I have no problem sharing my weakauras. I actually just swapped to Druid myself as I also can only play 1 class at a time and I loooooooooovvvvvveeeeeee PvP Resto. Bear isn’t terrible and Feral/Balance are passable and im only ever DPS in open-world content.
Druid is the perfect class for me. In short though, WEAKAURAS. Its usefulness extends far beyond dot tracking.
Hey she has not decided 100%. In fact she likes taking her time on these things normally will write it up and heck she might even make a flowchart and I’m not joking…
