Complex Boss Fights: The Guild Killer!

Blizzard, do you wonder why so many guilds-especially raiding guilds but not only those-have died?

Sure, guilds have always come and went.

But these days it is happening much more frequently.

And I will explain why: Boss Complexity.

This is mainly focused on raid bosses, but the same factors are at play for mythic plus.

There was a day when you did not have to study boss fights. You did not have to read about bosses, study videos or plan in advance. So how did you deal with bosses? The raid leader explained them to you, then the guild started the encounter.

Sure, there were wipes. Sometimes lots of wipes.

But the mechanics were straight forward, not all that numerous and not requiring split second reflexes, ultra perfect internet connections and hours of advance study.

Actually, it was even fun.

You could rush home from work, plop down in front of the computer, log in, get the description from the raid leader and basically do it.

No More.

Now, if you don’t study and practice, and have tons of add ons, split second reflexes you are not likely to be successful.

What this has done is weed out the majority of players who actually just wanted to have fun and not a second job.

Hopefully, classic will prove to you that this is what most paying customers want.

Time to tune down boss complexity and make WoW fun again!

No addons are required. You can still complete raids at the instruction of your raid leader if they are competent at explaining things. If you are not researching your enemy before going to the fight you are limiting your chances of success. No, it’s not required, and you might wipe a lot but… it’s easier if you do.

The guild I joined for BFA died because of how bad players were.
It was actually just infuriating how people would stay stacked on top of each other on Mythrax in Uldir. Or not move out of the raid during Zek’voz… Not moving to their assigned mark on Vectis to transition stacks and what not and being lazy and not soaking.
And if you raided Uldir and on Heroic, you’d know these aren’t even complicated mechanics and what not.
That’s why I don’t play with guilds, I know it seems selfish but everyone I’ve raided with just had slackers who slowed down the process.
I did end up clearing heroic Uldir with this guild and getting my curve achievement but man… It was ridiculous seeing how much we wiped compared to a normal raiding guild.
Some of the people I raided with in Ironforged Horde killed me mentally man.
After we got curve, the raid leader and I and my friend who I’ve been playing with for years just said f#@* it and straight up left.
Edit: I left this guild months ago, not to sure why It still shows up on the forums but oh well.

Vael in BWL was a big killer of guilds back in the day.

Hard bosses are good for that.

I like hard bosses. Keeps things interesting.

Do summary of Rastlins posts that I’ve come across:

Prune class abilities even more
Reduce M+ difficulty the higher the keys go
Reduce raid complexity

In summary Rastlin wants to play Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

If only we had something like 4 different difficulty levels for players to enjoy…

It’s totally ok if someone doesn’t enjoy the difficulty and/or preparation and time investment required for Mythic Raiding, what’s mind boggling in why some people want it removed…

If you don’t like it don’t do it, as easy as that.

I remember when mythic gorefiend killed guilds. Always wondered why until i ventured and tried that boss on mythic in WoD. Fun times…

You don’t seem to raid anyway, as LFR hardly counts nor has any of those guild-killing mechanics you’re criticizing.

(yes, I checked your armory profile  )

Guilds die because of entitled varuca salts that cant handle failing. This generation has never been allowed to fail and they cant handle it when they do. They rant and rave and cuss like spoiled children and thats why the guilds die. Its not blizzards fault for making a tough boss fight.

Let’s not forget to mention the extremely long down time between the last tier in an xpac and the release of a new one. Some people go on hiatus but never come back

Actually the raid bosses of today actually require you to stop staring at your dps meters and start paying attention to your environment and play. That’s why so many guilds are failing, they have grown accustomed to burn it to pass the weird phase mechanic’s.

Sorry guys your fancy numbers can’t make the boss go away anymore…your going to actually have to listen to instructions and move out of goo on the ground.

(pats you on the back) It will be ok…in the mean time have a drink and some cookies.

Classic was an even bigger grind than BFA. Warlocks had to stock up on soul shards, hunters had to stock up on ammo, priests had to pick up candles…

Oh, and that’s before the old fashioned kill ten thousand mob rep grinds for recipes and whatnot as opposed to doing world quests and getting one or two nice boosts a week from emissary bonuses.

Don’t discourage the rose-tinted glasses crowd … it’ll be that much funnier to watch when Classic comes out and all their mistakenly-held beliefs about vanilla come crashing down.

I’ve come to the conclusion that most players who are looking forward to putting their all into classic want to relive those moments of displaying their awesome raid gear on the streets of their capital city, and might be in for a shock when it turns out someone else gets that gear instead.

Seriously Rastlin. I think there’s a consensus among people who are unhappy with BfA that the trash is the problem.

This can’t be a serious post.

I really dont understand what he wants, the raid has 4 different difficulty levels right now. Theres a level for everyone to enjoy.
A level with a lot of complexity an a level with now complexity. Does he really think that normal mode raids are a guild killer.?

So is mythic difficulty too hard? Can always stick to heroic. Otherwise, sounds like it’s working as intended. Then again, what do I know.

BS, I played MC in Vannilla on my rogue. Everyone researched the raid and the leader overcapping this was a priming reminder. What is toxic now is no one wants to take a risk and give a shot to someone they can’t see all the stats on. Some people don’t trust 3rd party sites enough to download an addon to tell you I’ve done content like this.
