I’m looking for a leveling guide that’s less focused on speed and more on completing as much as possible on the journey to level 60. I would like to try and do most if not all quests in each zone I level in, and at least start to grind any reps I meet. Does anyone know of any guides or addons that could help me in this task? Most of the ones I’ve stumbled upon are more concerned with efficiency which is great but not quite what I’m looking for.
Check the add-on options. Something like the BC version of everyquest would work fine.
It’s simply a ! At every potential questgiver on the map.
There are web resources which you can access to search quest databases.
Don’t remember where though.
When you say “completing as much as possible” realize that almost every race has a different leveling path. Are you asking for leveling guides that maximize the leveling path for your race. E.g. the best way for Humans to maximize their Stormwind rep as they level?
Made one a few days ago for phase 1. No links (thanks blizz) but it includes everything you can do in phase one. If you like the guide please bump the thread so more can see.
I mean outside of the 1-10 experience that’s a bit of an exaggeration. I mean I want to go into a zone and then not leave until everything(level appropriate) is done, even if that means doing green and grey quests frequently. It seems like several of the questing addons stop showing you quests once they aren’t an efficient source of exp for your level. If this is incorrect and anyone knows of one that simply displays all quests at all time that’s essentially what I’m looking for.
That’s not accurate. The leveling path doesn’t send you into a contested zone until level 30 and there are still zones with more questing for some races than others at higher levels. Humans go from Elwynn to Westfall to Duskwood up to level 30.
Edit: I forgot Redridge
I’m not sure what the contested zone portion has to do with this but you’re right. I’m planning on starting with an undead and then kind of just go with the flow after tirisfal. As I said I’m not interested in speed or maximizing anything I simply want a list or map addon or whatever that allows me to not miss quests in the zones I level in. I think I’ve gotten that from the kind shaman above, Thank you. If anyone has any other suggestions I’m till open.
hmm monkeyquest i think works well
Contested zones would be the zones that don’t belong to a particular faction. Elwynn, Westfall, Redridge and Duskwood are all Human lands of Stormwind. The questing and lore there will heavily favor Stormwind reputation. You said you were looking for a completionist guide and I questioned whether you were defining your leveling path by race/reputation. I then further clarified that racial reputation gains from leveling extend well beyond level 1-10 as you suggested
I suppose I’d do the starting area, then once to Brill I’d get going over to the other starting areas and do those? Working all of those will start you on the questlines for each area, but I imagine you might start running out of level-appropriate quests to do by the time you clear out Mulgore (assuming orc/troll starting areas before Mulgore). Think long and hard on where to set the hearthstone.
I have nothing factual to base this on.
But if anything you’ll pick up some flightpoints, they’ll be handy in the future.
Maybe even earn enough for training weapon skills along the way.
I know ‘back in the day’ if I rolled an Alt the 1st thing I’d do is send them some money and make the trek to all the weapon trainers (and buying fist weapons since they never drop, who cares if I can’t use them right away due to level?).
Getting that training done early opens opportunities for using more loot along the way, and you get the xp just for the journey and the eased travel later with the flightpoints.
Edit: to clarify i wouldn’t do the Brill quests, I’d start the journey at that time to the other starting zones.
I don’t see how you read completionist guide and think its being defined by either of those things. I don’t have a path, I don’t want a path. You’re not really reading anything I’ve said in this thread. I didn’t suggest anything of the sort. You said races had an individual leveling path and I said you exaggerated. Horde after 10 have barrens or silverpine. Alliance have a third option but it’s still not one per race. I suppose it possible I misinterpreted “every race has a different leveling path” and if I did I apologize but this is now getting off topic. I just want some way of verifying that I’m not missing any quests while I play through a zone.
I’m saying you need to decide what path you want to take to level. For example, I’m considering taking my Human over to Night Elf lands to level there because I want to max my Darnassus rep for the Frostsaber mount. You need to decide what zones you plan on questing and leveling in and why
No I don’t need to do any of those things. I’m going to pick zones as I go like I did 14 years ago. I’ve explained several times what I’m looking for and other people have given me good suggestions. I don’t really care to continue explaining to you what I’m asking for over and over again. Thanks for trying, hope you enjoy classic.
Did not see anyone mention Zygor Guides.
They will have one for Classic before the game is released.
I’m using a guide called explore every corner on my since this will be my first leveling experience. I feel ya on wanting to complete zones and taking it slow, OP.
And they are asking if there is anything that shows every quest in a zone regardless of if it will give exp/or rep at the time. not for the rep not for the exp but for the completion sake of it.
And I’m trying to say it isn’t that simple. For example, the Blacksmithing quest from Goldshire sends you to the Dwarven District in Stormwind, then to Ironforge (maybe?) and then off to Loch Modan if memory serves. Say you’re a Dwarf Blacksmith and you want to do all the quests in Loch Modan over in Dwarven lands. You better take a trip down to Goldshire first or you’ll be missing out on the end of that chain. If you don’t do the first quest you won’t have the following quests in the chain available. You can just go to a zone and do whatever quests are readily visible but there are so many quest chains in this game that send you all over multiple zones that you’d be missing out on too many of them to consider it “complete” unless you make a plan for what specific quests you’re going to need to find
Download an Addon Called Questi.
It will tell you every single quest in every single zone. It also keeps a log of all quests completed. (provided you don’t re-install the game without saving the log file in the addon folder).
With that log, and the addon. You can find any quest that is missing.
A quest chain that starts in elwynn and ends in Loch Modan is an Elwynn quest in my eyes, also not really relevant to the convo. I want to enter a zone and then know where all the quests that I can start and end are. Why are you making this more complicated then it needs to be?
@Justiful I was under the impression that questie doesn’t display green or grey quests, is that not accurate?
