Comparing single player game to an mmo

Why do some on here like to use a 100% single player game to compare it to a MMO with some elements of single player to it? When in fact both are not one in the same single player ideas will not mesh well in a mmo environments. Sure World of Warcraft is slowly turning to a single player game but it is still not a “single player” game.

Elden Ring is not a 100% single player game.

Also maybe the MMO genre should change…maybe people never really liked getting into a discord with 19 strangers to run content.

I don’t think anyone here is saying wow should be compared to a single player game. Or that they want wow to become a single player game. It’s just that people are conflating the fact that a larger and larger portion of the place are playing the game entirely solo or at least the majority solo (like me), but will occasionally still dip into community content like lower level dungeons and raids and even casual PvP.

You can still play with other people in the game world and like that aspect whilst still playing solo. They’re not actually mutually exclusive.

Not sure I understand your point.

Are you saying you think it is becoming too much like a single player game or…something else?
