Companions ALT System - an idea

edit - sorry for the previous text, I made a mistake when copying and pasting

There were some old games that I had the opportunity to try, like guild wars for example, it had a very good company system.

Another one that I found the idea very interesting, but the game wasn’t very good, was the Granado Espada - you could customize your companies, if I’m not mistaken on the creation screen you could choose their appearance, class, and ingame you could change the equipment and outfits.

We have this idea implemented in wow today.

Yes we have.

Maldraxxus offers a huge range of companies to accompany us around - mages, tanks, DPS, etc…

But this is not new - Legion companies for example, we could choose one to accompany us through the open maps.

This already exists in the game, it’s been shown several times…one step is needed for this to become a “bigger” system.

There are some systems in this game that would make it take a huge step forward, to once again become a “different game”

-First, I’ll always think that we should have a player housing - with 100 different places to choose from all over azeroth (I’ve been talking about this idea for more than 5 years…with this concept of 100 different places…I’ve already explained this a few dozens of times)

-I also always thought that we should have guild housing (or guild hall) with more than 50 different locations in azeroth (different locations that are not close to the player housing locations) to choose from…another idea that I’ve been explaining here for years… …

-I still believe that we needed improvements in the look of spells, class movements, magic classes being able to hold the weapon to use as a channel for spells…among other improvements…

And now I’ve been thinking about bringing this idea of having a company to walk around Azeroth, but I think this has the potential to be a much bigger system.

It could be our alt, or a special npc that we could choose gender, change appearance, equip stuff, he/she could have bags to carry stuff and could even collect items.

It would be more or less like it works in dragon age inquisition (or any dragon age) where we play with 4 characters - in dragon age we can change equipment, choose npcs of different genders, different classes, change skills, change strategy, etc…

In wow, I believe it would be interesting to choose just one alt, where we could change gender, appearance, equipment, bags, put items in his inventory, we could choose class, which skill rotation to use (similar to what happens with maldraxxus npcs or like in legion or even like in dragon age where they have situational scripts and we can change depending on how it goes, even healing potions they can use depending on their percentage of health).

It is not an easy or simple system to implement but it would help in many situations:

-Healers who want to level via quest - just have a tank or dps companion;
-People who like to carry a ton of items and need more space;
-Immersion;
-That rare monster that you almost killed but was missing 1% of life for it to die… and no friend of yours is available to help you…

Actually, this last item is resolved by players who chose maldraxxus, which brought me this idea: this should be something open to all players.
And for that to happen, Blizzard only needs to take a single step forward and transform this nps system into a company system, being an alt of our choice, which would be our adventure companion.

I don’t think it would be interesting to take the companion in a raid, neither dungeons nor pvp…but in open world, old raids or old dungeons, I think it would be really cool. Even for DKs who have 0 movement other than ‘deaths advance’ and could have a teammate giving some speed buff to help the farm in old raids - that would be really cool.

no thanks. I hate companions with a passion. also you must be playing on a rp server to never have others out in the world to help

no, i’m playing in a normal server…that is dying, like the other servers…

Just put in instanced condos (like the farm was/is) in one city for Alliance and another for horde.

2-3 alternatives would be fine.

Use three locations in Ironforge and three in a horde city.
