Compact (tenkeyless) Keyboard + MMO Mouse?

I’m looking to downsize my keyboard for a new desk as space is now limited for me and I have a question about a compact keyboard and the 12 buttons on the thumb MMO mouse.

I have all of the thumb buttons bound to the number pad. Compact keyboards don’t have the number pad section of the keyboard.

Will an MMO mouse that has keys bound to the number pad work? Seeing as a compact keyboard doesn’t have the number pad nor does it have NumLock to enable them, I’m a little skeptical to think it will work. If it won’t work, does anyone have any suggestions for my problem?

Thanks!

“Compact keyboard” - do you mean a tenkeyless keyboard?

Not sure what you are trying to do exactly, but a tenkeyless keyboard is missing num lock, just from staring at my full size and comparing it to my tenkeyless.

Missing num lock is easily solved with autohotkey (google it). Heck, you might even be able to replace the entire numpad with autohotkey, depending on what exactly it is you are trying to do, which I am not sure.

Yes, I was referring to tenkeyless. My apologies.

You could use a game pad. Razer makes one called Orbweaver and Logitech does as well.

Yes, a mmo mouse will do what you want. I’ve been using a razer one for ages. I have its side button set to the number pad, and it does not care what my keyboard’s numlock state is. It outputs the correct numbers at all times.

Keep in mind these mice tend towards a short life span. Mine usually last a couple of years before the main clicky buttons start to fail. Considering how much I use it, though, it doesn’t seem too bad.

Side note: Add-ons like Bartender or ElvUi can let you set custom shaped button bars that match the layout on the mouse. I find this very handy.

Also, if you want to consider a left-hand keypad, check out the Azeron. It’s expensive, but so much better to use then the razer or logitech options.

it works fine. You can get a number keypad. they really do not take space or get specialty keyboard all together. This is what i use AULA Excalibur Master One-hand Gaming Keyboard Removable Hand Rest RGB Backlit Mechanical Keyboard
