I’m looking to downsize my keyboard for a new desk as space is now limited with new newborn baby, and I have a question about a compact keyboard and the 12 button on the thumb MMO mouse.
I have all of the thumb buttons bound to the number pad. Compact keyboards don’t have the number pad section of the keyboard.
Will an MMO mouse that has keys bound to the number pad work? Seeing as a compact keyboard doesn’t have the number pad nor does it have NumLock to enable them, I’m a little skeptical to think it will work. If it won’t work, does anyone have any suggestions for my problem?

Depends on the specific model of mouse, but generally mice with lots of buttons on the side act as both a mouse and a keyboard.
Point in case, the Logitech G604 mouse I have which has 6 buttons on the side causes the keyboard identification dialog (“What keyboard layout are you using?”) to pop up when I plug it into a Mac.
As such, these buttons on these mice should work identically to the keys they’re bound to. Num lock shouldn’t be necessary, but even if it were most mice can have their button assignments changed and even stored in the mouse’s onboard memory quite easily.
