Comp stomp pretty great but needs fixes

AI is pretty fun actually

provide an ok challenge, do player kinds of things. Not as strong as honorbuddy bots, but definitely more ‘real’.

needs some fixes though, they need to register as honor kills and they need to show as their class colors

another fix, q ignored my role and just went with whatever I was sitting in prior to entry - locking that in

vs AI pvp is gonna get bigger, that’s for sure

This threw me off a bunch at first.

Beyond that I’d just say they need a skill tune up…

Far too easy right now… and they have too much “ADD”… They could have killed my alt mage half a dozen times in the one game I played on it had they pressed their attack after i Blinked, but they just give up every time and swap targets.

It was a pretty bizarre experience. It will be interesting to see how they iterate on this going forward and whether the AI will ‘learn’. It seems decent and managed to ninja cap a couple of bases in my game, but we never really lost more than 4 bases.

Some weird behaviour - I found out the priest NPC will just recast fort if you dispel it on two or more enemies.

I would be most interested to know if anyone has actually lost this brawl? Is it possible? If so, how embarrassing for all real people involved…

This brawl is really boring. Why take the PvP out of PvP? Maybe I don’t get it.
If I want to beat up NPC’s I’ll just raid or something…

I want 15 priests to queue in together and trap them all at mines. Keep walking them back to the flag and never let them escape.

Learned they kick fast. Not honorbuddy fast but fast. U can juke tho surprisingly. They reapply instantly 2/3 of time u dispel unless mid cast of something. Seems hunters locks and tanks do base sit alot compared to other classes. All in all it can be fun if they up the skill level of their bots. So far i havnt seen 1 outdamage any of our dps and they land maybe 5 kills a game. MAYBE. thats if we have no healers. Its not close atm. I would say it is comparable to training mode in any game.

I was sad to see that they were all immune to mind control too.

I’m not sure how I feel about the brawl, having played it some more - all three games have played out the same in that the NPCs all swarm a single node, and tend to stay there if there is at least one person to pull their attention. All my games have been 4 caps with no chance of losing.

I think a more interesting dynamic would have possibly been to have 9 players on each side and 6 NPCs so you mix real people with NPCs. I know I’d entertain myself by following the NPCs around (and might actually get peels) healing them to see what happens…

e: on the bright side, really easy completion for the BG weekly quest??

Maybe the people who always lose might get in a win.

You can’t knock them off cliffs, that’s pretty bad.

That’s really strange—why make them different than players.

They prob bug and get stuck.

The AI definitely needs improvement. Right now they’re just sitting on a base and doing nothing if you take four. At least have them move out in groups of five to try and take back a base or two. Its like having no opposing team at all.

But if this is the intended behavior, then just give us the free win and free honor a minute into the bg instead of wasting our time.

This is the only way Alliance can win AB.

Seems realistic to the average random bg player if you ask me.

“Just let them win”

I just want to start by saying that I actually was plesantly surprised with the comp stomp and am absolutely thrilled at the prospects presented! The foundation that this could lay opens so many amazing possibilities in WoW and I can not wait to see how Bodyguards are handled in 8.2.

As a healer I was surprised how organized they were, they focused me over the DPS, they coordinated interrupts, they CCed when I popped CD’s. Honestly, they are actually pretty smart.

I will say, the AI however is pretty stupid in a few ways. One thing I noticed, when dealing with a Feral Druid, was that they stayed in front of me the entire time when attacking me and whenever I moved forward even slightly they would re-position like normal mobs do when tanking. As I was healing I slowly moved the Feral Druid that was attacking me into the rest of my group one little step at a time. Its hard to describe, but if you saw it you would know what I mean as it was VERY mechanical looking.

The actual big stupidity issue though is that if you take Stables or Farm(Depending on side) the AI will just constantly try to retake that location and trickle in to the meat grinder of death. The winning strat seems to be “Push Stables/Farm ASAP then send a few to backcap while the majority defends the choke point location”

The AI should be smart enough to go “Okay, this isn’t working, lets go around and hit one of the other locations instead” instead of constantly and robotically continuing to run to their death.

Starting with the latter, oh yeah I agree FULLY! It was a real pain seeing all of them look like Death Knights XD It would be fantastic if they visibly reflected their classes like actual players do.

As for the former, I don’t know how I fully feel about that. I feel that should be an entirely separate discussion on “Should bots count as honorable kills” given they have been from players only for so long. An absolutely valid point of discussion, personally though idk how I would feel about that but that’s just me.

Would be a good idea to possibly throw that thought over into the Bug Report forum as well.

Oh I don’t doubt it. Honestly, I expect it to spread into a lot of different aspects of the game outside of just PvP. Honestly, one of the things I would love to see it applied to are player pets. Player pets have been pretty dumb for years to the point that bandaid buffs like “90% Reduced Damage from AoE” existed. Imagine player pets that actively moved out of AoE, Repositioned, knew to jump down a ledge when you jumped down, ect.

Imagine bots in LFD and LFR to reduce Queue times during slow periods, ect.

There are so many possibilities with this tech that its extremely exciting.

At the same time, to devils advocate myself, I do fear it some day reaching the point where they are over-saturated in the game and possibly take away more of the “social” aspects of an MMO.

At any rate its very interesting and I greatly enjoyed it, it met a lot of personal expectations

Was a weird experience for sure. I can see it being used in a positive way. Also was interesting to see the bots take advantage of players and point out weaknesses. First guy when we all loaded said, be sure to defend until we’ve pushed them back further. Of course no one defended and we lost mines and stables before even taking BS.

Even against bots people still make newbie mistakes.
