Without honor, there is no point in being there though.
It will be DoA if it isn’t. That’s the reason it was popular to begin with.
But I wouldn’t put it past blizzard to miss that fact.
Its not comp stomp though, its a new thing called Training Grounds. Itll be kinda the same thing, but the bots will be stronger.
What becomes the point of regular BGs after that? People only do randoms for honor really now (and fun and rep), but if the honor is farmable in comp stomp (and rep), it just leaves the people who do them for fun, and that doesn’t really leave enough to fill queues.
There is going to be some catch, or limit, there has to be.
But then again, this is the same group of people trying to hype up a 40v40 BG, without understanding that is essentially dead content because they refuse to address queue syncing groups.
I understand the reasons why they picked Battle for Gilneas and Silvershard Mines, but I was really hoping when it was expanded upon it’d be Warsong Gulch and Alterac Valley to finish off those PvP reps 
Will you still get Honor/Conquest? That’s the big reason to do it, it’s a real easy and relaxed way to farm both.
It sure isn’t to practice your spec, as the AI just flat out isn’t good enough to pressure you into learning what to do when your opponent does whatever.
Also the AI has modified abilities that the players do not have. It needs a lot of work.

My favorite comp stomp thing was when Evokers first dropped, if you you dared use an empowered skill anywhere near the NPCs, they would all instantly turn, interrupt you, and dogpile you til you died. It was actually hilarious. For some reason it made you public enemy number one for anything in 100 yards.

You’re not wrong, it undermines the entire point of bgs.
The real problem is conquest gear, people love comp stomp because they can jump into pvp being totally new and actually get some wins in, it’s a pleasant way to get your honor set.
Bgs have two type of players in it.
- People who need honor for pvp gear (or mogs)
- People who like pvp who already have pvp gear, usually a full set of conquest gear.
For group 1, bgs is just losing over and over and over again until they get enough honor gear to make it to group 2.
It’s really no surprise why pvp is so dead when that’s your intro pipeline
There probably will be in an attempt to save bgs but it will undermine the point of the feature and neuter it to the point of not being worth mentioning it as a feature, just another weekly chore.
I think it did that with certain other things, too.
My favorite thing is when the AI Hunters feign, but then just stay feigned, even if you are actively unloading on them. They just lie there.
I think they can also attack while Turtle is up? Or maybe used to. There’s just a lot of odd things the AI does.
Given they’re finally giving us a new epic BG, seems like they are finally trying to fix things and have an actual newb-friendly PvP route.
Currently you just get blasted because you jump into unranked knowing pretty much nothing about the mode, not even having honor gear lol.
And that is never a good experience.
Probably the biggest reason why folks don’t PvP is they get soured on it before they even get a chance to meaningfully play it.
Imagine having to do a Mythic +20 on your very first PvE dungeon run, not even having done normal yet, that’s more or less how PvP operates currently.
I feel like this is the solution they are going with to combat the premade nature of random battlegrounds.
While honor gear is terrible and shouldn’t be used beyond trinkets I get players who want a starting set that can’t stomach crate farming.
That would be great and all, but if they add a 40 man BG, they need to fix the queue syncing issues, because as it stands now that ‘newb’ is gonna drop in and get stomped in 5 mins by a 30+ man group of losers that sit around queue syncing all day.
What a great introduction to pvp.
PVP in WoW has never been fun like fun especially compared to other games, granted I used to do it a fair bit up until Shadowlands but since then I have only ever done Comp Stomp for the easy marks of honor to buy the sets from the vendors but besides that I have zero interest in WoW PVP outside of when I do warmode.
Eh, they haven’t so far and nothing announced, so I wouldn’t doubt it’s not happening lol, at least not yet.
Wish it would though.
