Community Transmogs

I think a really great system is Workshop from Steam, Alot of games that sell skins take from their own communities workshop vote then in or just bring em in outright, Blizz should try something like this. Would love for the artists in the community to feel appreciated and possibly get rewarded by blizz for a job well done, On steam the workshop artists are well appreciated by both the community and the game company

And then watch them give little compensation (currency or not) because I’m very certain they like money.

I mean addon devs make nothin from blizz im pretty sure, so im assuming artists will prob make more than them lol

That’s not how the market works, pal.

It would create unnecessary controversy if artists receive pay yet addon authors don’t.

Addon devs are third party with patreons, Community artists supported by blizz would be seperate than addon devs because it directly interacts with Blizzards store.

Also saying that blizz supporting artists creates controversy to me is just bad faith ngl especially when ur comparing it to addon devs who got patreons and are outside the game

There are tons—and I mean tons—of artists on DeviantArt, ArtStation, and so on who create hundreds of new concept sets for WoW. At the very least, they could serve as great inspiration for the game… but yeah, it all depends on whether the company actually feels like following up on something like that.

I remember in CS:GO when the Fracture case was released. There’s a skin in there for the P2000, the Acid Etched.

The creator of said skin was answering questions on reddit, and while he wouldn’t reveal an exact number that Valve paid for the skin, he would state that it was “a life-changing amount of money.”

Blizzard would absolutely not do the same.

Maybe worth a shot although I am worried about race restricted stuff because of the amount of work. :tshirt::robot:

Going to feel bad for the Tauren. :robot::sweat_drops:

Would love to see something like this. I don’t play FFXIV, but I always thought it was cool that they had community voting for fan-made cosmetics to be implemented into the game, including hairstyles and housing decor.

Then again, I don’t really trust WoW’s community when it comes to voting. But I can at least hope that there would be more genuine participants than there would be trolls.

Idk, I just think this would be a cool way to allow players to feel like they have some degree of “agency” over the game, in a perfectly harmless cosmetic way.

I’m all for getting quality mog. I don’t care where it comes from. The recent sets have been pure garbage. The WoW store has horrible transmog.

it would be skyrim modding all over again, half naked humans and elves with bazoinkers larger than an orc shoulderpad, so no, i dont think blizz would ever consider it

You realize blizz has full control over what goes in their game? Also if thats what sells massively than blizz would already be doing this in WoW. But the appeal is only to a small select group and not most players

Blizzard isn’t going to to put in art assets they don’t own, and artists aren’t going to part with the rights to their designs for internet points.

On the other hand imagine if blizz creates an in-game hub for players to share attire load-outs more easily (all with in-assets of course)

Lets pretend as if artists wouldnt want free advertising for their art lol, and also get royalties or get paid for art rights

This system already exists on steam and its massively popular, especially for rust, cs, and dota, pubg i believe and i think dayz aswell(might be wrong on dayz) plus hundreds more

They also got pfps, game backrounds and community profile art showcases you can use absolutely free.

Youre the guy who draws 4/10s on twitter and offers commission in each caption?

You are pleading for a reaction lol. No im not an artist, i buy commissioned art

Neither are the people selling 4/10 comissions

Well then they wouldnt be in the discussion about ppl submitting mogs to Blizz lol theres definitely an audience for this in the WoW community

Depends what it is. I will most likely want it on holidays.
