If you join a full group of 2400 I’m pretty sure you are not carrying anyone. And if you join an all 2000+ either, unless someone in there bought a boost which you can easily see in IO history. Your argument is flawed.
You literally do not have the experience to make that claim. I can assure you that it happens. It happens frequently.
You can have a full group of 2000+ in a +15 key where no one is boosted that goes horribly wrong. Why should I be forced to stay when the rest of the group can’t get their head out of the ground.
First of all, I love that your counter argument is literally “pugs be like that sometimes”, which is what we’ve been trying to tell you. It’s a premade activity. Make better premades. Don’t invite people who will brick your key.
Second of all, do you even do keys? Runs fail for any number of reasons. Doing keys isn’t automatic. Practice can make them go smooth, but it’s possible for everyone to have a bad outing. Maybe someone is 2200, but their group does things different than the 2200 pug they just joined. Maybe they’re having a bad day. Or a bad connection. Or maybe their heart just isn’t in it right now.
Or maybe you read my entire post with suggested solutions before replying?
There’s no solution where there is no problem. Again, I find it hilarious that every OP who uses toxicity can’t define it in a clear, concise, and objective way.
I read your whole post. You’re having a bad m+ day. It’s fine. It happens. GD is probably cheap therapy for a lot of people. But you’re jumping all the over the place with justifications. Just take a walk or something.
QFT. This is it. /thread
Unfortunately there is a lot of truth in the OP statement. I went years without seeing any toxicity in pugs all the way through Legion and most of BFA. At high keys I don’t see it but good lord even REGULAR dungeons leveling from 50-60 it’s nutz.
I had 4 different groups in the span of about 1 week that there was some guy who wanted to vote kick someone from group right before the final boss because either they thought it would be funny and typed LOL - for the lawls or they were being super toxic to a new player.
I recently was leveling an alt just the other day and we had a tank that was super toxic to a noob and tried kicking him twice. Eventually the group was so fed up with him, we ended up kicking the toxic tank indead. Karma I guess.
You used the word “toxic” as an adjective to define a player 4 times in your post. What does toxic mean? All I see is a troll, someone who votekicks for fun. Is your definition troll=toxic or is there more to it? Define toxic that is objective without using an anecdote.
Since I don’t do Mythic+ content, I can’t comment on the toxicity levels there. I’m concerned with toxicity in LFR. Since this is my level of ability, that’s where I experience raiding, and the hostility and lack of patience with people trying to learn a new raid is very concerning, especially when this is the level of raiding that is supposed to be for novice players. Impatient tanks who pull without letting anybody give even the briefest explanation to prevent new players from accidentally wiping the raid (wormhole mechanic in Castle Nathria, for example), players who insult other players who do ask for help, and actively trolling by posting deliberately unhelpful advice while other players are trying to explain the mechanics to inexperienced players.
I can understand that there are experienced tanks who are not good at the whole “explaining mechanics to new dps/healers” thing, but not giving an entire raid enough time to prepare is pretty silly, especially when there isn’t even time for somebody to put down a feast, and espeically when raid memebers are locked out of the boss because the tank couldn’t be bothered to wait for lost raid members.
Bad people exist. There’s crazy people on the subway, that doesn’t mean you need to cancel the subway. Bad or belligerent people exist. I don’t know if you’ve been outside lately, but they’re on the rise in the real world, too. Just go take a look at the comments on your local news Twitter page. Everyone everywhere has become emboldened to say the quiet part out loud, we’re in the middle of a social revolution.
If you aren’t willing to accept or acknowledge a definition that’s on you.
That’s the thing, there has been no definition given. An example or anecdote isn’t a definition.
They’re right though. No one had supplied a definition. Colloquially in this single thread it’s been used as a synonym for everything from trolling and belligerence to just a lack of altruism.

I will say there is such a thing called Key Griefers/Throwers who intentionally try to leave the party pretending that they went offline just because they didn’t like how progress is going, and unfortunately, that is barely reportable even if it’s multiple repeated offense.
I believe players that do this should get some kind of punishment, in the same way they punish toxic players in ffxiv. You don’t get away when you’re toxic to others, especially if you are toxic towards a new player. We need better moderation. In-game moderation is another thing that blizzard needs to invest in heavily, if they have any hope of nurturing a healthy community.
Blizzard complete hands off approach attracts a certain kinda of internet edge lord and antagonistic personalities.
Such as Kaemane and Sosari.
I laughed. I laughed hard.
