Community Should Make the rules

So I was in a guild. Someone in guild wanted 50k for his legendary and would pay back 60k once his token sold. It has almost been a week and he hasn’t been on and he took me off real id. Well he hasn’t been on that toon.

Blizzard has written they look into Fraud. This is fraud. I opened ticket and they said they won’t do anything because it was a promise and he still might pay me back.

So I told them Guild Master. He meet me with silence then logged off. Then logged on then /gkicked me. I got invited to the second part of the guild because they are huge and have two guilds. I wrote in /Gchat I was scammed then reported it to the other guilds GM and got /gkicked. This Guild Master then logged off.

From the Game Masters point of view he could of just looked to see if the guys sold a token to see if he really was going to pay back or was doing fraud. They do the bare minimal which most people do in low paying jobs. To them it is not fraud without looking into it. Everything that followed as in /gkicked is weird.

We as a community should make the rules as to what Game Masters are allowed to look into. It is our gaming xp that is being affected.

Second we should know if any action is taken against said account. It is not a breach of privacy at all. I know someones avatar, not who they are. It also shows said infraction will not be tolerated which is a deterrent.

You don’t really want this. It won’t end well. Especially with the WOW community.

Sorry, you got scammed though. Hopefully, you’re able to recover the money eventually. Otherwise, treat it as a learning experience. Trust No One.

Man, that sucks, I am sorry you lost out on that much gold.

odd part is…who cant find 50k gold in this game so they need to rip anyone off?
I cant fart without tripping over 50k worth of crap to sell on the AH

Never fall for this scam again, btw. It’s a classic.

Buddy, if there was EVER an example of “you think you do but you don’t,” this is it.

You think this is what you want, but I can assure you that given this community’s track record over the past seventeen-odd years there are zero ways this will go well and a million and one ways this will go catastrophically wrong.

This is why the whole idea of making legendaries things where you have to work with others to get them was imo a bad idea. I got my 291 shadowghast but I was extremely on edge with the stranger I was working with. I had farmed a good chunk of mats and just handed it to him, and he in exchange made my pauldrons.

I and another guildie of mine got lucky, but I can’t say the same for everyone else. Like I literally handed over my mats to a draenei paladin I don’t know. Can you imagine doing that yourself?

No, that is not a good move nor is how anything works. Blizzard makes the rules for their game that they own.

What you engaged in was an unsupported transaction. Blizzard does not get involved in personal disputes between players over gold or loot. NEVER lend gold (or money) to someone if you can’t afford to lose it. If you can’t do the entire transaction via the AH or trade window, Blizz won’t get involved.

A GM will also never give you any information about another player’s account for any reason.

Haha.

Nah, you gave him gold for free. That’s it. Nothing to be done.

There’s a different rule with crafting stuff, like if you agree to make something for somebody and then log off with their materials then they’ll frag your account, but you gave this guy your gold for free.

i’ll be honest, loving this because it happened to a Horde player.

Yeah, that wouldn’t be nightmare. I can already see it. “I want a GM to look into why I was kicked out of the group. It’s not my fault I stood in fire and died!”

This community should never be able to make any rules for Blizzard.

Blizzard isn’t going to support revenge.

From now on, always send stuff C.O.D. and never let anyone you don’t know borrow gold.

This is actually something Blizz will help with if the person steals your mats. The key is that you have to put the terms of the crafting agreement in the game chat. That way the GMs have logs showing “Hallicon traded player X mat1, mat2, mat3, and gold to craft Name of Item”. If player X walks off with your mats Blizz will have the chat log to refer to and can penalize them. I don’t know if you get your mats back though…maybe? If you ever have to do this, make note of the player name, server, and time stamp of your chat discussion in case you ever have to ticket for that.

yeah I used the snipping tool and everything lmao

That will help you remember the name, server, chat channel, and time stamp. Just keep in mind that Blizz won’t take player screenshots for evidence. They will only use their own logs. That is why it is so important to use the game chat to detail the terms of the crafting exchange. If it is done on Discord or a voice chat and you don’t put it into the game chat logs, you end up out of luck :frowning:

Coming from them yes they do. If it was a gear offer they said they could of done something about it because it would be “scamming”.

If this is the truth then they should be looking into it more. By definition this is fraud which is what they look into. That is their rule.

I just want to add that this is an excellent rule for real life too. Never lend money of any kind to someone unless you are prepared to write it off as a gift. A lot of relationships are ruined by that mistake. When I give a friend money, I just immediately forget about it. Sometimes people remember to pay you back, but you don’t want to be that guy that’s all like “You haven’t paid me back, man!” every time you see someone.

So if you cant afford to lose money of any kind, don’t give it out to people for any reason. It’s like a “Please secure your mask before you secure it on other people” kind of a life rule.

@Thallia would no doubt be a rule-maker, and i’d be on my third notice within hours.

Not everyone is you :man_shrugging:

Did he ask you to send him the 50k in the form of Target gift cards?
