Community Managers - The Silence on SoD is Crippling

Last reset I was able to put together 2 Scarlet Enclave lockouts - this reset I had to cancel due to not enough signups.

Some of my guys who have been consistent for the past 2 months are now stepping away to other non-official versions of the game, and my signups for next week’s SE looks thin as can be - I may not be able to field another raid.

I have been posting on X (tagging Clayton Stone, Zirene, and the Wow Classic Devs official X account) for 2 weeks without receiving a response. Which is fine - just because I post something doesn’t warrant receiving a response.

I have posted on reddit about our runs to drum up excitement and engagement, and have gotten quite a bit of engagement, and have even posted on Youtube of all places (not that I’m this big content creator…just trying to make something happen) but nothing really has changed from a population standpoint.

I have been pretty active in these forums advocating for change that would help SoD be set up to be a successful Era exerpience.

It would be AMAZING if Character Transfers can be enabled for SoD realms - like Classic Era. Josh’s bluepost from May stated how the developer team would like for SoD to operate similar to Classic Era.

But Classic Era received connected realms, and has transfers enabled. Some work was done to make the servers set up to be as successful as they can.

Can Blizzard enable Transfers from Crusader Strike to Wild Growth (and / or vice versa)? If not, even some sort of response would be great for the remaining players that enjoy this version of the game.

Sod is dead. Give up on it. Wait for classic+. Everyone is gone. The fun you had is all but a memory. It will never come back.

There is no Classic+. Blizzard is not running a development path in parallel with retail for no extra subscription value.

I respect that. But please add phase 9 to the game. It will not affect retail did happen before with p8. It’s just me but i do enjoy world of wacraft only in the season of discovery. I want to be a op mutant with damage healing and tankiness and only in vanilla wow era client. And we bit in concern there’s void in kara entrance and in new avalon. They can merge the pvp rewards as well for more fair.

who’s going to make phase 9?

I’m still able to field a team (for the time being), so I’ll continue to advocate for it.

Classic Era was essentially dead when TBC came out, yet here it is standing today with 10k active weekly raiders. I haven’t given up, although it’s close.

Classic+ (or whatever it will be called) is absolutely coming. It’s not an “if”, it’s a “when”.

I hope Blizzard can respect the remaining players and open up Character transfers (or merges, connected realms, etc.)!

Why are you here then? It’s a very legitimate ask and its not much. Let us people who want to play SoD play. It wouldn’t be nearly as dead if we merged servers or let people transfer

era only got resurrected when ulduar came out. People couldnt handle hard content and went back to vanilla. I dont see this happening again especially so for sod, ever but goodluck.

Same who did pvp change to make vanilla enjoyable for me with arathi bassin also maybe same who did scarlet raid or a new recruit. Also if they could remove the premade restriction that they implented to reduce queus time in sod for bgs make them give xp so they are more dynamic to play and people can learn their classes before facing sod pvp veterant who usally know what they doing and dont let you any chance if you new. No need big ressources. Just less punishement for creativity will be a great start.

you just gave away billions of dollars in business strategy consulting for free.

I’m a true sod enjoyer when a hunter one shot someone in bgs i cant resist to laugh and yet they nice and balanced there’s multiples ways to counter them i discover them now and as mage who in theory is the worse matchup. What sod gave me sadly any other version cant. I will defend it even if there’s only me playing.

I’m still playing it. When I have time.

ngl, being a late comer to SoD kinda stinks, think i’ve ran into 5 characters so far in 15 levels

love the idea/format and it would be cool to do regular seasons.

I’m Going Back to the Classic+ A.K.A SoD, just because We All Know what this was. A Game we can play still lvl Quickly and enjoy with retail like things with the classic feel. I don’t want a new lvl cap or to Travel Far away from new Players. I want to Be enjoying the company of Players Escaping our Jobs for Companionship while Close to our Families at home. This is easy to fix SoD Problems. People Just needed to be reminded its a game that we enjoy Lets Kill Something. What are you Scared of you big /Chicken.

Wildgrowth NA is decent not sure about the others servers but you can find raids at peak times.

Ulduar was a big reason why Era started getting popular again.

But also Wrath at this point felt very different from the original Vanilla game and feel. I think people simply just missed what Vanilla was.

Regardless, if Blizzard stated they want SoD to operate “similar to Era” I would hope they would - at a minimum - implement similar tweaks that Era received (character transfers, connected realms).

If they really wanted it to stay alive as an Era experience, other small QoL changes could be made to:

  1. Make Remnants of Valor tradeable resources (allows for players to jump into content a lot more easily with Naxx)

  2. Throw Tarnished Undermine Reals on Naxx/SE bosses (puts more items into the economy through content that is still being run: raids)

  3. and a bit more controversial but would be helpful - giving another class Wild Strikes on alliance. More often than not, the raids I host have someone dual boxing a fresh lvl 60 feral Druid just to bring wild strikes to raid. If pally had an equivalent for their party, or if Druid had a passive ability for any spec/form they were in for wild strikes, this would be huge.

The first two items above are smaller database changes that wouldn’t take much time, I doubt the third would be hard to implement too. But it would take someone actually opening up the SoD code.

Not sure in what sort of language SoD players must talk in order to get the dev’s atention to at least allow transfers or anything of the sort.

Not everyone wants to play mop or any other versions and it’s fine. They are paying money for it monthly and it’s a legit thing if you enjoy something you should at least give a minimum of atention. This is affecting what is left of the costumers that want to play this version that THEY enjoy.

Amen! Where can we go to be heard, and to get some sort of response for the subscription we’re paying for?

I shared today with our daytime crew that this week is my last lockout of hosting SoD raids.

It has been a lot of fun to continue to play SoD amidst the “dead” game mode, as there is still a community of people who want to play.

As a Raid Leader/Raid Organizer its just too much right now to try and find the necessary/needed roles. It would be much better if Blizzard could connect the remaining realms together, or just open up server transfers.

I hope Blizzard reconsiders their decision for a communication strategy of “silence” for the remaining playerbase. Without a light at the end of the tunnel, it’s time I hang it up.

well if you decide to join wildgrowth, im sure the pug scene could use another raid hoster. currently we only got about 1 person who hosts various SE pugs and like 2 guilds doing pug naxx runs
