Remember all the hype about the community being the best part about Vanilla? Lets take a close look at that in each big parts of the WoW gameplay.
Leveling. This was a huge aspect of Vanilla that was supposed to be better than retail. Retail is just dungeon spamming and AoEing everything down it’s too easy and brainless. Classic: LFM MAGES FOR AOE RAID MAGE MAGE SPELLCLEAVE.
Gearing up. Lets take another look at the community again. LFM BRD ONLY DOING 2 BOSSES EVERYTHING ON RESERVE. Not much to say there.
Raids. This isn’t the community’s fault for doing anything wrong but MC is a complete joke and in most ways is a lot easier than 5 mans. I’ve literally never wiped on rag, and the other “raid” ony is done with half the amount of people that can zone in.
PvP. Here is the big one. wPvP was obviously a disaster. But I’d argue the AV situation is much worse. Right now you have to choose between getting pvp gear (afk spamming AV) or doing pvp (WSG). Thank you AV zerg meta. You can literally be the top ranked pvper without killing a single person and without even moving in a bg.
I know you can argue anything is fun or anything is better than anything. But I don’t know how you can objectively argue the Classic has been a good version of wow in any aspect of the game. The leveling was a joke. The raids are a joke. And the pvp, which usually fills in the time between raids, is arguably the worst part of all. The community really was the best part of vanilla and we are seeing what the game looks like without it.

K. Leveling experience is fine in my eyes.

Literally every one of those can be traced back to bad decisions by Blizzard.

WoW Classic a lot of fun to me. I mean, A LOT. Maybe it’s not for you.

The community is bad, my server is actually good but the forums are a mess. No changers were awful but many of them have been banned or stopped playing/posting. It’s just the pvp trolls that are an issue.
You’re not wrong.
Blizzard isn’t culpable here, as some (especially warriors and warlocks that just like to hate on Blizzard) may try to claim.
The Classic community is made up largely of pirate server players, and those disillusioned with the game post Vanilla, and hence, the community is filled with terrible people.
It’s pretty easy to see.

I have been enjoying my time in Classic. Leveling and pvping have been great.
Are you sure you aren’t confusing “community” with people working together to carry you to your goals? The game is loaded with opportunity, it’s up to you to grab it. No one wants to waste their time making sure you are having fun. Not their problem.

yeah god forbid you have fun playing a video game!
Having fun is your responsibility. The community isn’t there to make sure YOU have fun. Others appear to be enjoying the game. What’s your problem?

you won’t see what the issue is with your attitude so i’m just gonna say have a nice day, dude.

IDK from my experience the only negative impact the community has really seen is the people on overwhelming factions ruining the game for both sides during phase2 because of their addiction problems. Now that bgs are out all of the people who were standing around for a solid month trying to be one of 100 people to hit the one dude trying to travel are ruining AV for their side in the hopes to be #1 basement dweller.
My opinion is that having AV as a never ending hamster wheel, even though its not like it was in vanilla (I was a mage in vanilla) has made the game better in general as all the addicts cant get off the wheel or risk losing ranks, the open world is like it was before phase2.
Leveling in classic is great. Maby don’t worry about what other people are doing and enjoy the game.
Make your own group. Join a guild and make friends to play with and gear up with.
It’s version 1.12. this is exactly what we should have expected for the first few raids. Raiding will become harder as we get closer to Naxx. [quote=“Milkme-aerie-peak, post:1, topic:388270”]

Did you start on a PVP server, when you should have started on a PVE one?
Classic is the best iteration of WOW since WotLK ended and they gave us Cata.

Dare I say the real truth no one wants to hear? It’s the private server players. They have been doing this for over 10 years. Over and over and over and over for the sake of “being the first”. No different to retail. All it has done is shown that the community is more “selfish”. Heck, can argue the same for retail in all honesty. But it’s really not the case because loot is personal.
I’ll even argue that playing it proves to me it wasn’t THAT hard if you think about it from the past to present. It’s just not. The grind from classic vs retail is both similar, but different. I think the grind in retail is less compared to classic. You have more outlets to getting gear, BiS (yes bis is still a thing believe it or not). Classic…not so much. You have lock outs and people just raid log from there. Not saying retail doesn’t do that, but players do more then raid log. Even with or without WQs and what ever you want to complain about.
I think the community is worse compared to vanilla. People were more Friendly. Not so much now. No one really “cared” much about dumb stuff, but if something was REALLY troublesome it was put to the spot light. Now everything is under the spot light.

My experience has been much different. I have meet and made so many new friends. People I have meet are very willing to help. Sure, there are some bad actors on the server.

I’m having a blast in classic wow but I think you remember vanilla all wrong. Th community always sucked in any game. That’s why you found a good group of people to play with and joined a guild. Sure your guildies were the real community at that point, but no one else mattered. If your unhappy with the community it’s because you’ve surrounded yourself with the wrong people
As for pvp yah it’s a tad bit disapointing to have 0 reason to enter wsg right now. Although I’m hoping blizzard does something to give us incentive to leave AV and enter WSG. They may not who knows. Pvp was never anything other then a mindless grind though, at least for those people reaching the top ranks. There’s only so many weeks of mindlessly killing people before it gets old, but you keep doing it anyways cuz u want that sweet title.
Mc was never hard and 15 years has taught us everything we need to do to master it. Bwl will be no different. Naxx might. Although if you truly joined classic looking for a challenge, in a 15 year old game we’ve beaten to death, well is that really blizzards fault?

I enjoyed leveling, I enjoy clearing MC, I enjoyed wPvP, and while AV isn’t all that great I don’t absolutely hate it and WSG is a blast.
