Community Gardens

In capital cities (and elsewhere), I think it would be cool to have community gardens where players choose what is planted, wait for them to grow, require players to tend to the gardens (or recruit followers to tend to it for us), and then offer limited harvests where X number of players can reap the benefits first come first serve.

I imagine such a garden could also have all sorts of other rewards including, perhaps, instanced plots set aside for each player alongside the everyone-sees-and-uses community plots

Cities like Stormwind and Suramar are well set up for this sort of this, but I imagine each capital city (and other world locations) could host a garden

Mechagon has a garden that, once you defeat the boss, turns into a lush landscape suitable for plant life! :robot: :sunflower:

Time rifts 2.0

folks will just idle next to the garden to swoop in and grab the loot without lifting a finger to contribute

I just think that there will be so many bots ganging up on it that real players can’t even get to the garden. They’ll harvest everything and dominate. Then you also have the players who are part of a premade cred and want to control and exploit everything because there is gold to be made for real money trading or whatever it is they’re trying got make a living out of.

It’s just like in premades in epics bgs. They’re just farming honor points to buy vicious bloodstone and selling it on the AH for thousands of gold. Only found this out by reading Battleground forum.

Then we can learn from that lesson: Make it so that you can only harvest some crops if you put effort into tending them? Or some other mechanism to make it a) fair and b) enjoyable

I don’t see why we can’t have something in a game that works out so well in real.

Not the same…but Tillers. It would need to be instanced for reasons already stated.
Neat idea, though.

I have yet to do the Tillers myself, but I have heard good things about it. I was sad to see it not included in Remix or else I would have. But, it would be great to bring the Tillers into the rest of the world and not just on Pandaria

The Hallowfall Zone, specifically Beledars Bounty Fields already allow you to plant seeds and pick the harvest. All individuals w/herbalism skill can farm the nodes.

Precedence!

However, I would like gardens in community hubs/capital cities, and I would like non-herbalists to be able to participate. I love me a farming sim, and WoW could for sure host a damn fun lot of 'em imho

True.
there Had to be some way of recording contribution or no ones efforts would add to the completion bar.
Dunno why they decided to never implement it to detect folks who did and who did not contribute.

Think they thought the ‘Reporting in’ and needing to earn points for weekly was enough

Gnomes are gross.

D:

can restoration druids get a gardening buff

Tend the tree; be the tree

Not a bad idea, but should be more of an RP thing, we need for places open world to socialize.

If major cities didn’t lag like crazy w/ group social events like this idea - it might work. Or they’d have to phase/shard it like Half Hill, to a handful of players at a time. The idea is a good one, the logistics might be tricky. I still remember feeding resources to the seedlings in the Emerald Dream zone in DF only to shard out and have all the effort lost/wasted.

We can hope they could make something work.

I usually announce in /1 if I got a bunch of seeds, 20 or more, that I’m going to plant so others can come over and get some.

I’ve seen others do this aswell.
