Can we take a second to put out some simple points for people to keep in mind while leveling?
-Druids can tank dungeons all the way to 60. Most level as feral anyway, but it isn’t required.
-Shaman, Paladins and Druids are capable of healing dungeons - regardless of the spec they’re using to level.
-Shadow Priests can heal dungeons just as well while leveling.
I’m a little biased towards hybrid classes so those stand out to me the most. Feel free to list anything I may have missed.
For those who keep up with the private vanilla scene, this is probably well known. However, this may be ‘news’ to people who played classic originally, but haven’t kept up with current meta or current community perceptions.
Warriors can tank dungeons perfectly fine (and better early on) as a DPS spec so long as they have a decent shield and 1h.
People can and should throw out a buff or a heal or a hand to other people they pass on the road, if they have anything they can do to help.
Grouping is often a good way to cover your class’s weaknesses.
i’ll be playing an arms warrior, but come dungeon time, i’ll likely have to tank… its just the way it was in classic… there was no auto dungeon finder, you took what you could get and went with what you could do to the best of your ability. Sometimes there were no tanks, and so you had to settle for a hunter to use thier tanking pet… or a lock’s voidie… it was just the way it was… i don’t expect things will be different, but perhaps there will be more peeps who will scoff at players not specced correctly trying to fill those roles, particularly if they haven’t played classic (or vanilla as its called).
-Don’t be that guy to not invite the pally tank or druid tank.
-Rogues get knocked out of stealth when they sap without proper talents. Even talented, there’s a 10% chance to get knocked out of stealth.
That’s the point of this post. That’s how things were back in the day, but the community from vanilla servers seems to recognize that hybrid classes can fill roles fine, just like dps warriors can tank fine. End game popular tank spec for warriors is actually fury/prot due to threat generation from what I’ve read/heard.
