True. But I’d rather have that kind of answer than no answer at all (which is the current situation). At least then, they might have read the topic.
It was just a PR stunt. We all knew it wouldn’t amount to anything. As it didn’t before
There is a vast middle ground between what you are saying: that blizz replies to every single thread and what we have now.
And what would replying to the threads in the forum they created to communicate with the player do? well, it would be communication. even a “no” with some reasons is good communication.
It seems like you are creating a strawman just to knock it down.
edit:
Also, I don’t know who “people” are, but I simply want more communication so I can have a greater insight into the direction of this game. I don’t know why you think you know my mind better than I do, but I don’t want mere agreement.
edit 2:
This is cynical nonsense. Your logic: a company shouldn’t even try to communicate in the very place they created to communicate in, because communication on the internet is impossible. The irony of your forum activity in spite of that conviction is interesting
Well, a simple “no” is better than players being strung along/false hopeium…
If a blue comes out and definitely says “no, we will not be doing X” that is much preferable to players being stuck in limbo sometimes waiting months/years for an answer on X issue/player request
Waiting for an answer is not fun either way
Yes. Also, my point is that Blizz basically doesn’t reply at all. Brewa’s retort of :
is silly. Again, there is a vast area between replying to ALL threads and replying to nearly no threads.
They won’t interact with everything, but they are reading and listening.
The problem is, a lot of players have distorted their idea of what the Community Council would be and what results would come of it.
Stop putting so much weight behind this idea. You’ll be better off.
Without replies how do you know they are reading and listening? Is this faith or is it communicated somewhere?
Also, I don’t think expecting the CC to fulfill the very purpose it was created for is too much.
They made a post somewhere that they are reading the things posted.
And it’s naive to think they’ll ‘listen and act on’ everything posted.
It isn’t too much, it’s just being naive.
They’ve done this song and dance before and ends rather similarly.
With a loud minority angry with the game and bashing Blizzard for not listening.
Even though they don’t like to interact with us in here , they more then likely know what we are thinking , what the big topics are for players.
Many of us have done the Betas and the PTRs and every time they are up their are threads made by the Blues for players to talk about their thoughts on the topics .
All they need to do is make threads like those where the player members can put out their views on the topic/s and the Devs can respond to what player members are bringing up in regards to those topics.
Again with the “everything” point. I totally understand they can’t reply to everything or every thread, but there is a vast difference between replying to 100% of what is in the CC and what they are doing.
I highly doubt I could make the devs be more active on the forums. If anything, I’d just improve on my ban speedrun record.
How do we know what is read by Blizzard and what isnt? Blue responses may only be the most obvious reaction. I mean, who really knows but them?
That’s the point. They chose to set up a space to communicate and selected the players, then promptly ignored it by all available data. It’s a weird move because they would have been better off not even doing the CC at all at this point.
It’s a larger mystery than D.B. Cooper. Some people told me that the recent boosting ban and cross faction proves they listen, but:
- People have been asking for it for years
- They didn’t communicate, they just did it
Bruh
Because that is what people seemingly want. There are plenty of replies but there are still other people not happy with it. Not every topic needs a reply too. This is a simple spam-free troll-free general discussion in the community council section. You are expecting things that are not feasible in the expectations you and others set for yourselves.
This company, nor I imagine many others would not constantly reply to a lot of threads. They have a job, not every thread needs a response… it’s just a feed back section lol.
For real. And they act like he did something wrong, when it was another guy completely in the discord saying racist stuff. All he did was ask the guy to clarify because as a speaker of another language, he didn’t know if the guy actually was meaning what it sounded like
In my company, when I set aside and advertised a phone number, email, and website that my customers could communicate with me. I had the foresight to actually assign people to handle that task. I didn’t have my VP all of a sudden do the job.
So, blizzard should have done likewise. It’s not expecting non-feasible things to expect something to achieve the mission statement given to it by its creator.
Does not make over a billion dollars a year. With multiple departments/teams that are understaffed and work diligently to get things out.
I think you are living in a fairytale land and not reality my friend.
You absolutely will not make the devs more active, but you did bring the only activity CC had, still true to this day.
Too true that I’m on a much smaller scale. Maybe the mistake I’m making is assuming Blizzard can do more because they are so much bigger than me.
You make a good point that being bigger might make you less “mobile” and adaptable.
