Common IC viewpoints you just don't get

The double standard the void elves were subjected to was baffling. I feel like there had to have been a better way to justify them going Alliance.

I mean, not really, no.

While yes, it makes the Blood Elves a bit hypocritical on the fact they yeeted a group of their former people for being corrupted by a particular magic, there is the fact this particular magic affects the mind in a far more active manner than ever other magic in the cosmos.

This said, the Nightborne Recruitment scenario also shows that exiling the Velves is the correct choice in the end.

But still Blizzard. Why do this when you could’ve just brought out the Silver Covenant and instead just give us a rather nice recruitment story for High Elves with the two remaining Windrunner sisters and a storyline in the Hinterlands where they have their lodge.

I think it’s just a function of how prevalent murder hoboism is even in tabletop RP. Insult someone in a bar and they literally attempt to murder you.

They almost corrupted the Sunwell by being in its vicinity, lol. You know, the thing Blood Elves consider the heart of their society. Imagine losing it AGAIN. And if the Sunwell did get void corrupted, there would probably a repeat of people succumbing to Old God whispers simply because they happened to be drawing on the Sunwell.

Racism between the various Horde races. Like, I know, I get that there’s been bad blood between elves and trolls (this is the most common example I see of this in RP), but if you’re in the Horde, you’re all working together side by side for a common goal. It’s just a tired cliché to me.

Yes. This is true. But rather than a purely pragmatic decision framed as “it’s nothing personal, the sunwell is at too much risk” it was couched as if the void elves were making some disgusting morally repugnant decision that was somehow worse than literally installing fel batteries every city block.

Hard disagree.

I have a difficult time accepting that the tauren do not view the goblins on the whole as a plague on the Earth Mother. They need only venture into Azshara to see the devastation wrought since the Bilgewater Cartel settled there. Sludge Fen in the Northern Barrens. Stranglethorn. Or their operations in Pandaria. Pinchwhistle Gearworks.

You might have a point about tauren relationships with the Forsaken, but only in so far as the tauren in question are untraveled and haven’t seen the absolute hellscapes Sylvanas’ minions made of Lordaeron and its environs: the potted human fields, the Blight research facilities, every Forsaken camp in Northrend…

I’m uncertain what the tauren would think of the orcs, trolls, Belves, fat pandas, and Nightborne though. Probably on better terms with those races, on the whole.

Re void elves, I maintain that their recruitment scenario should have been way ddifferent. Alleria leads some Silver Covenant on a patrol to mop up demon camps on the Broken Isles. They get ambushed by some vengeful demon assassins, Alleria gets badly wounded in the process and starts radiating massive amounts of void energy because of the dark naaeu she ate. Trying to save her, the magisters teleport her to whatever the biggest Silver Covenant base is (since it doesn’t look like Dalaran anymore?) and all available elves start siphoning off excess void energy to stabilize her while the healers go to work. By the time she’s better, the vast majority of the Silver Covenant are eldritch abominations.

This would explain why void elves are loyal to the Alliance without the flimsy story we’ve been given, and also explain why there’s enough for them to be a playable race, while also explaining what happened to all those regular high elves that aren’t playable. They should still throw in a couple of high elf customizations anyways though.

For what it’s worth it’s only between the elves and forest trolls, jungle trolls don’t have the experience of elves trying to take their land. The elves may not care to make that distinction between different types of trolls, but the Darkspear don’t really have a reason to hate blood elves.

Definately agree, one thing that bothers me actually is when people actually ALWAYS assume that this is the mindset I have when I RP Gotosh and how he views things. It kind of feels like everyone doesn’t think the other is putting thought into what they are doing, which I can get with how often people like to ignore certain aspects of the world…

But it does get rather annoying when people assume I’m all about hand holding and pacifism and don’t bother to see him as a person and not something on the surface. I try really hard at trying to keep a realistic mindset for Gotosh in this world of a lot of heartache and grief while also doing his best to achieve his goals in making connections with people and each other…

I don’t understand why everyone thinks Orcs have to be hostile or angry at everyone, Yes Light-forged are the exception on account HELLO LOOK AT THEM, But in reality.

Tarona isn’t really that angry of a person and apparently that makes me an odd or outcast.

Unless it’s Light-forged, We gonna need to have a chitchat between you and my Axe.

Encountered a new one today, a troll saying it’s okay to kill innocents as a member of the horde because ‘Sylvanas did it’.

She was cast out for a reason guys.

That’s where one can easily counter with another Common IC Viewpoint of explaining their future choices will likely be imprisonment or execution.

My new one is people saying that there are innocent members of the Horde. Heyo!

“I’m going to go needlessly commit wanton murder of innocents because our former leader who was legally ousted once did it!”

Loh: puts anti-heresy sword on table You gonna what now?

All the fun of RPing characters who do not apologize for crimes they did not do but are entirely game for punishing the ingrates the moment it’s an option.

It also doesn’t make much sense unless your character is deranged. Even this character who started off as a Sylvanas loyalist didn’t think like that lol.

Maybe the Troll was looking for their own redemption arc?

Redemption arcs are only for those who can stand upright.

The lore is so fractured and stupid right now that if you were to do any old zany thing you could imagine, there’s probably an example of someone in lore having done it.

I definitely feel like a lot more is possible in this world than stuff that isn’t, but at least it’s fun.

Okay, ouch though? Why ya gotta make fun of Darkspears like dat, mon?
