Command Table Really Needs Tuning

I know it’s not the highest priority for many people, but the current iteration of the command table in SL is in an appalling state of balance.

I’m Venthyr (eww a Venthyr Hunter), and we got shafted hardcore. Some of how followers are hopelessly undertuned and it puts Venthyr (and as I understand Kyrian) at a severe disadvantage compared to Night Fae and Necrolord.

Take for instance Rahel, my Rahel is at level 37, she has 1175 health, 335 attack (which is standard), but her ability is 105 damage to the closest enemy and 105 damage to the furthest enemy on a three round cooldown… which is quite poor damage. (I seem to recall seeing a certain NF follower who at level 15 does around 150 damage to all melee on a three round cooldown; like how is it even possible such an extreme disparity when live?)

Or what about Stonehead? My Stonehead is level 30. He has 1600 health, which is nothing special for a tank, 80 attack and an ability that does 24 damage to all melee… which is laughable damage. Sometimes you need a meat shield, but a lot of the other time that just prolongs the duration of the match, which increases the damage the rest of your team takes.

I don’t want to belabor the point too much, but I’ve seen what sort of followers the NF and NL have and quite frankly a lot of their followers are better at 15 than mine are at 30.

There are other issues beyond this, particularly the obscene amount of anima it costs to do missions and how long it takes for them to recover naturally. What’s this you say, I did a mission for 50 anima and now all my followers are at half health and it takes 500 anima to heal them, or I can wait about a day for them to heal back to full? Like who designed this nonsense.

I know the mission table isn’t high on anyone’s priority list, but these things aren’t hard to fix, seriously. Halve the anima cost it takes to heal things, at least, and then give another anima cost reduction at the tier two adventure table covenant sanctum feature (that was a lot of qualifying words). Then double the passive healing rate for the followers, so at level 30 I’m not lucky to do more than one mission a day.

As far as Venthyr is concerned several of our followers need buffs. Namely Rahel needs probably a 25-50% damage buff on her ability, Stonehead probably needs an 100% buff. But Nadjia, Theotar, Ayeleth, Dug Gravewell and our melee troop also need moderate damage buffs. A lot of people like to complain about Kaletar, but if you pay attention her tooltip isn’t right, she heals every round, not every five rounds like the tooltip says (please fix your tooltips blizzard).

Don’t wait several more weeks to see how balanced things are once we have a full roster, my blatantly undertuned followers are still going to terrible compared to the roster of NL and NF, who typically have followers and troops who are objectively better on every level.

Not that much is stake, although I’d probably be making an extra 500-1000 gold per day and a decent bit more anima if I were NF or NL instead of Venthyr. But on an entirely different level Blizzard, it really reflects poorly on you to have something remain in such an abysmal balance state for so long after expansion release.

That’s all I have to say on the matter, but I hope it will get some attention.

I agree with all of this.

Also, tooltips seem to be very misleading. Lots of them, including ones on enemies.

It shocks me how my champions sometimes have to be double the level of the missions they are trying to complete, just to win the fight.

So they get stuck just doing easy fights in order to farm anima and some exp.

I also kinda just want a ui revamp. I just genuinely don’t like the ui.

But my main two 60s (my necro just capped so no missions), are kyrian and venthyr. I think my highest follower is a 26. I just do the missions for enchanting mats. Sometimes, I even win.

This needs more time on the front page. Again, it’s not the most pressing issue in the game, but it’s as simple as tuning a couple of numbers. Blizzard cannot be unaware of this issue. Getting the rest of my followers won’t stop Rahel and Stonehead from being awful, and most of the rest of our followers from being underwhelming. Except Stonehuck, he actually seems really strong.

The thing I don’t like is I’ve stopped receiving XP missions but I’m still getting brand new companions like every other week. There has to be a better way to level these fools up. I’m finally getting the mount missions and I’m kind of close, but a lack of XP makes it a PITA

I’d like EXP missions to actually appear when you get further into the table campaign.

I keep getting these lvl 1 followers that drag my troop level down and no EXP missions to put them on. Suicide them on gold missions instead.

Honestly this expansion I’ve found this table to be total garbage. You spend so much time not winning anything unless it’s the Anima missions. And those hardly give anything.

Many of the problems would be solved by simply not getting rid of all the low-level missions as you raise your campaign tier. It would leave in exp missions, provide more anima missions and let you have more flexibility in picking a difficulty level.

As a puzzle minigame, I’m finding it very hard to “sim” the fights in my imagination once they go beyond the trivial early encounters. I would consider going to far as adding an option to pre-play the missions to determine if a strategy works or not.

I do agree that removing the lower level missions is problematic.

I reached the high 30 low 40 missions as Venthyr and my level 20 missions went away, which was a huge mistake. I’m not sure what the solution would be, as it would probably be too much to keep all the lower missions rotating at the same rate, but how it is currently is probably not okay either.

Of course it doesn’t help that I need to outlevel missions by usually around 5 levels at least, or put most of my followers if I want to beat it, or at least not have most of my guys return super low hp and wait the rest of the day before trying another.

Just don’t take the new companions. The ones you gain in Torghast you have to take I believe, but the sanctum followers you can just leave on the NPCs. Both my 60s have a follower waiting at the Table NPC because I don’t want their level 1 to bring my average down.

This whole expansion feels half baked to me. They shoulda let it cook for another month.

Personally I hate the new auto-chess style command table. I disliked the command table as it was in previous iterations, but at least in previous iterations, I didn’t need to guess if I’d win or not.

It’s clearly just a late cash in on the popularity of auto-chess systems, and it’s not even done very well.

Just feels lazy to me, and I kinda just hate it. Also the fact it requires anima, which is like garrison/war resources, but also demanded for many other things besides the wartable… is just rather annoying.

Thing is I actually like the more interactive command table, I like that I can actually make meaningful decisions about how I place my units that affect the chances of success, or even the degree of success. The system is just poorly implemented and imbalanced.

Like in all threads asking for balance the table:

They can’t balance covenants in general and you want them to do this… :man_shrugging:

People out here getting rewards besides anima from the command table…

I only do anima missions and leveling missions. If you avoid progressing the campaign missions, you retain the exp ones like “catastrophic skeleton thingy.”

Yup. Kind of insane how bad venythr and kyrian followers are. My necrolord and nightfae smash the higher level stuff while my lvl 27 kyrian followers can even beat the lvl 20 soul ash.

While my 37 necrolord people are clearing the lvl 40 missions with ease

After the night fae nerf, I have level 30 followers and level 60 ash and campaign missions. Lowest mission at 37 and i have no hope to complete any of them. I get the nerf but ffs reset the mission levels. Or was the intention just to make night fae stop all missions?

Abused the NF table until they nerfed it. Now I ignore it because the rewards aren’t worth it. Even doing level 25 missions with level 25 champions is almost always a fail. I’ll pass.

New followers that join should be at least your troops level. WOuld alleviate a lot of this nonsense, But exp missions still need to show up regardless.

For all the NF people who min/maxxed yourselves into a wall, my heart aches at the pain you are suffering.

I shall remember you all as I am having a grand old time at the Command Table with XP missions galore to choose from…
