Command Table and levels

I’m not sure if this is the right place for this but. Has anyone else noticed that the command table this xpac has no logic to it? I just lost a level 24 mission when i sent all level 42 and above. A level 42 gold mission i was just screwing around with i sent a level 24 32 and 3 42. won it and took almost no damage.
Its like they took all logic and made the levels they post worthless.

I hear there’s an addon that helps, ready to try that myself because I also see no logic in my wins and losses on the command table.

It’s not that there’s no logic, quite the opposite: it’s a puzzle game where team synergies and counters to min/max the outcome are often tricky to eyeball.

a quest level has a lot to do with loot reward, XP reward, AND enemy strength.

for example i have a quest level 38+

the enemy health is 7180 x 484 attack = 3,475,120

not too difficult.

BUT what makes this mission level 38+ is the XP awarded is 900 - whether your quest succeeds or not! that’s pretty substantial.

add to that the loot is a champion enchanting cache; that’s 2 eternal crystals plus some other enchanting mats.

the mission level isn’t in comparison to your troop levels - it is in comparison to OTHER mission levels.

i hope this helps.

No that’s the point of what was said.
The level 24 quest had more health and more attack then the 42. Also, The level 24 quest had 2 mobs that made it so no damage for 2 of 5 rounds.
If they are level 24 then how are they having any success in hitting a level 48. Why is the health and attack higher? If the levels are meaningless then why show them?
I know the different levels plain silver and gold. This was a gold 42 and a plain 24. So even that doesn’t add up. Its like they did this on purpose because of the complaints on the older tables. Its not a game stopper but its another feather in the cap of expansion features that i have no interest in.

i know what you mean. i have a level 24 quest now on my board that is not gold or silver or (r) - the health is 6910 and the attack is 499 = 3,448,090

that’s more than the 38+!

and the reward? 284 gold…

:weary:

a 36 just popped up - not silver, gold, +, or (r)

health 10,800 x 612 attack = 6,609,600; reward 50 anima!

apparently 50 anima > 2 eternal crystals according to the table. lol

Yep…

Also, I currently have Qadrin, Vesperbloom, and Meatball legendary quests available to recruit them to my table (some for 3+ weeks) and have ignored them all, because I need my trappers high enough level to get me my rewards.

Because having new recruits make my entire battalion weaker just makes sense…

level them in the easy quests. it takes a few minutes a day and before you know it they’re useful in helping rotate the quests so the XP quests show up more often as they gain XP.

right now I can get my XP quests to pop up 5-7 times A DAY. i recruited Bron and Ispiron last Tuesday. Bron is now level 28 and Ispiron is level 25.

don’t let the noobs sit collecting dust or they’ll never be of use to you for a loooooong looooooong time.

They will be is the problem. Night Fae relies heavily on using our broken units (trappers) to win missions, even post nerf. Completing the level 51 elite missions to get blue bags of fish, meat, and herbs (to say nothing of augment runes) is usually done by using a level 40-44+ good unit (Te’zan, Dreamweaver, etc…) and 4 trappers and ~ level 40-42 for trappers is the cut-off.

The last 2 times I took new recruits my trapper level dropped to the point that I became unable to do these good missions for a few weeks. And you are wrong about how long they take to level. Getting them from level 1-20 takes 2-3 missions, after that even the bonus xp ones they gain at most 1 level at a time. That means even if you log in every time a mission finishes you are looking at 2 weeks to get them high enough to not greatly gimp your trappers.

They will sit, and rot, until my trappers are level 50. Once they are high enough that accepting a 5 level nerf wont’ impact me, THEN I will bring the level 1 trashcans out and power level them using said trappers, while still completing missions that are actually relevant.

Then I don’t know.

I did post this 9 days ago:

HO HO HO!

This morning around 11am, I earned my 33rd renown and recruited Bron.

Tonight around 10:30PM, I ran Torghast and located and recruited Ispiron.

The wild thing is - after 2 new recruits - the level of my foot soldiers DID NOT FALL.

My phalanx and halberdiers were level 43 when I logged last night and were still level 43 when I logged tonight.

How awesome is that?"

I had figured they stopped gimping the foot soldiers when recruiting new heroes.

It seems pretty erratic to me. It could definitely use some tweaking.

Oh I SO HOPE SO. It wasn’t true 3-4w ago. If it is true you have changed my life for the better. Barring some contradiction in the next 2h, I will recruit one of them and see if my trapper level drops…

My soldiers are at, like, level 24. My adventurers around L29. I just recently did a campaign quest to finally level stuff up.

I’ve been running Anima and XP mission most every day (sometimes twice). I rarely use my generic soldiers, the team of 5 adventurers just crushes the simple quests that i do.

Is there something higher up worth leveling to? You folks at 40+ is just unimaginable to me.

At some point you will unlock campaign missions. They award battle pets, rep and mounts and that’s the things I know of for sure.

Once you complete the level 48 adventure you get access to missions which reward:
Caches of fish: 6 of every fish + 3 thade
Caches of meat: 6 of every meat
Augment runes: 4-6 per mission
Stygia: Can’t recall, something like 250-500 stygia
Soul Ash: 150 soul ash (maybe this unlocks at earlier levels too)

You also unlock lots of missions that are 51 elite where your troops get 1500 xp even if they die. You can level pretty reasonably through chain suicide runs.

Troop level is NOT determined by the average level of your followers. It is determined by the median.

  • Basically, the game looks at all your followers’ levels from highest to lowest. Then it picks the middle 2 or 3, and averages just the level of those 2 or 3 followers. The result is your troops’ level.
    • If you got some new recruits and your troops did not drop in level, it simply means that the median didn’t change. The new middle followers that game checked when you brought your new followers in just happened to be the same level as your old median followers.
    • If you want to raise the level of your troops, leveling your highest and lowest level followers does nothing. Instead, you need to focus on raising your middle followers (and maybe the ones just below them to provide leeway in case you get more new recruits).

Also, if you want to never fail a mission again, do yourself a favor and download the mods Venture Plan and Covenant Mission Table. These mods will also tell you which followers the game is looking at to determine your troop level.

Thanks for the info about the median determination.

I know about Venture Plan, I was fortunate to be one of the first to find it and then recommend it on here. It’s been the best in telling me WHERE to put my troops so the heroes take less damage, etc.

This and the amount of time it takes to level a follower are my only real complaints with the mission tables this time around.
