Command Key (Mac)

As of now (Sat Oct 17 10:13:51 PDT 2020), the option to use the command key on the Mac client as control is gone. My clique bindings are now useless, as my primary modifier key is now dead unless I either make unacceptable changes to system-wide keybinds, or deal with an ergonomic mess due to the positioning of the control key on the keyboard.

I’d like to know if this is going to be fixed, or is a planned regression?

Out of curiosity, does the command key work outside of WoW? I know it may seem like a silly question, it needs to be asked.

It’s a WoW issue… and one that has been discussed on this forum since the pre-patch went live. They changed the behavior and a Blue commented on it on another thread. I believe that it’s going to be reverted.

Its working now. Command-click is working again!

Usually, for mac, command is used where you’d use ctrl on a PC for things like copy/paste, and most other key commands. Most mac users don’t use control much, and I essentially never do except when forking from a UNIX terminal.

I’m aware of what it is, I own both Macs and PC’s.

Thank you, I have not seen that post among all the others. I will look into it.

Apologies, I misread. Right now, I’m using a 3rd party utility (karabiner elements) to force a wow-only change to the key mapping. No fix, but at least an acceptable (for now) workaround.

In 9.0.1, the command key was changed to be independently bindable (rather than being an alias for ctrl).

As far as I know, all of that is working correctly now. You should be able to bind CMD+1 as a keybinding in the default keybinding UI, use [mod:cmd] in macros and use the cmd+left click as right click feature (now that that bug is fixed).

If an addon isn’t working, it sounds like it’s because that addon hasn’t been updated to handle command key binding.
