DK got fyr’alath, so decided to attempt to main my dk again.
Bro frost feels so bad. Having to stand in DnD just to do any decent aoe feels horrific.
Then in raid our ST feels almost nonexsistent.
I know unholy is superior, but I hate unholy…
and I thought feral felt clunky.

Yeah, in M+ Unholy is basically scuffed demo lock, and Frost is the worst designed mDPS spec in the game.
DK DPS is designed and balanced almost entirely around being a swiss army knife raid DPS. You can basically choose any damage profile, from 45s to 3m, from burst ST to mass AoE, and everything inbetween. This is the only area where either spec shines, and even at that point, you’re not playing a specific spec, you’re playing DK DPS and are expected to play both proficiently. DK DPS is one of the best raid DPS options, due to its flexibility, utility, depth of damage profile options, but out of raid, it feels really really bad rn.
With how it’s been balanced over the last few expansions, DK DPS in general isn’t really a class where you can afford to just play one spec. You either take it for its entirety, BoS, Oblit, Disease, and Garg, or you play another class.

Its honestly not that bad. A little planning and its fine. Even in pug groups, most pulls are done identically. And theres not that many affixes or mechancis that you cant plan around for DnD
Its up there with Feral and Ret Paladins and etc etc etc.
Try a caster. When melee characters arent clicking, caster alts fill the void for awhile. Try out Demo Lock. Dev Evoker is terribly easy and decent numbers.

I have played demo, dev, destro, affi, and shadow.
The ONLY caster I enjoy nowdays is Shadow. I love BDK, but I can’t tank raids bc of my guild.
I can do 10x better on ST on feral than I can no frost.
Sounds like you need to practice Frost more since it’s ahead of Feral on almost every ST based fight this tier.
You’re also playing Obliteration, and while that’s fine with the Legendary, Breath really is the raid build for Frost. If your goal is to parse or do the most damage damage, you’ll get more mileage playing with Breath or swapping to Unholy, even though you dislike it.
I can do 220-230 as feral, and I only sim @ 215 as frost in full OB build, and 229k in breath.
So enlighten me on how I am suppose to do better.
If I wanted to play a pet spec, I’d play demo. Unholy is stupidly PI dependant.
I’m not a total idiot. I just prefer BDK instead of DK DPS.
Prolly just end up suffering as dps in raid then tanking keys.
By optimizing your gear and focusing on playing Frost properly.
Not much point with like 11 days left in the season though.
It’s not worth playing something you don’t enjoy, just to swing an orange stick. Frost has issues, but it’s not the end of the world.

How does shadow feel these days? I’ve been thinking of making one.
Class is trash from top to bottom. Other classes might have bad spec’s but no one else is as bad as a whole.
Sorry you picked the wrong class. I rerolled priest and I’m much happier.

When the game slows down at higher keys is when things feel fine. It’s really just common sense at that point. Power and movement creep has been pretty insane.
It’s not bad. I personally detest the 10.1 rework, but otherwise it isn’t bad.
I am parsing 90s and stuff though. I can do 1.5-1.7m burst in keys.
I posted in DK discord and they said I’m doing pretty well. Also your guild makes me not take you seriously bc I use to be with them.
And yes, the orange stick is a big big issue.

I’ve been wanting to force myself to level a kul’tiran priest, because the priest trade post stuff looks godly on em because for some reason I think I need all the heritage armor, even on races I don’t play.
Stop gaslighting people. It is that bad. Most mechanics in WoW are based around “dont stand here” stuff.
Yes, DK can do fine in M+ but DnD cleave is terrible design.

Remoreless winter should be frosts cleave ability, and unholy blight for unholy.

Or you’re just that bad.
The size of DnD allows you to escape the “dont stand in this exact spot” while still remaining inside DnD to continue to cleave.
Again, pulls are pretty much set up the same from week 1 across the board.
Mobs and their abilities are memorized and planned around.
DnD cleave works just fine unless you’re bad at FDK and play like Ret and just hit every ability as it comes up.
The design is clunky, sure, but it’s not the worst thing out there.
You can argue that BoS is just as bad because “oh a mechanic made me lose uptime” or “boss phased right after I entered BoS window and now i’ve got 2 minutes before I can pump again”.
It’s poor planning which results in bad play/output. It’s bad if youre unfamiliar, or if you’re bad. That’s it.

No. That is objectively worse than having it stay tied to DnD.
It’s already been said but optimization and practice. Sims != Reality either, and Frost - both Breath and Obliteration - beat Feral on just about every fight in Amirdrassil.
If you’re not doing better on Frost than your Feral in practice, then it’s just a skill issue that can easily be remedied by playing and practicing with Frost more.
From what I’m reading from your posts, it sounds like you’ve played Feral far longer than Frost, so naturally you’ll do better with it on that basis alone.

There is absolutely zero chance that I do better as frost instead of feral on ST. I dont care what the meters say.

I know what I’ve done, and what others have watched me do.
I’ve seen 1.5 on the meters on big pulls many a time.
I’ve seen me burst 800k on single target as frost, but I fall off HARD after hero.
But its okay, nobody will ever believe anything I say bc that’s how its been my entire life
