Coming back to SOD and feeling lost

I have 4 characters at 50, back when that was the level cap. I’m interested in continuting my priest and heal. But I am at a completely loss to all the new stuff. Are incursions still a thing? Feel almost overwhelmed when I login and just get the feeling to log back out because I feel lost and not sure what to do other than make a level 1 and start over again to get my bearings. Thanks in advanced.

Hi Vhesha! totally understandable. You’re welcome to continue your journey however you wish.

If I were you this is what I would do:

Focus on your priest.

I personally would pick up shadow and do an efficient leveling route. for sod that means, go to the hinterlands dream portal and do the incursion daily quests. You can also do the same thing near ferulas and do the daily quests there near the dream portal.

When you hit lvl 53 it’s a bit of an awkward point for leveling. You could do a number of things… I’d probably recommend hitting up eastern plague lands or winter spring. Around level 55 or so you could do the dailies in searing gorge for the blackrock eruption event as well as continue your quests in the plague lands. Personally I would do the BRM quests with a group that knows the optimal path and see how you feel from there. On your way to 60 you can try to get your attunements done for MC by doing BRD. If you’d like to skip ahead as quick as possible then id recommend doing invasions from this point. Collect 3,150 remnants, get your shoulder enchants unlocked and try to nab some sanctified gear. to get into naxx you should aim for 2/3 pieces of undead set and 2-4 more pieces. The easiest path to do this would be to do molten core real runs, dungeons and easier raids like ZG and small AQ, as well as getting your attunements for BWL and sneaking into higher difficulty raids when possible. Once you have enough gear try to get into a karazhan crypts run for some really nice sanctified gear. From here you should be able to get into higher level difficulty naxx without any issues. At that point you can continue doing raids and dungeons until your gear is near pre-bis for scarlet enclave. A lot of guilds are looking for more people at the moment so try join gin a guild to help with this journey.

Best of luck

at 50 the play pattern is largely same as before . the only deviations from regular classic are incursions are now daily and can be done up to 53 (hinterlands and feralas). then at 53 the black rock mountain dailies open up and can be done once per day up to level 60. the rest of the time is just normal questing or grinding invasion event mobs(boosts).

@60 youll want to primarily do naxx event invasions and lights hope turn ins, and kara crypts dungeon for sanctified gear. and old raid content for reals (token currency for a catch up vendor) to fill gear for naxx which will then transition you into current endgame.

This is the biggest fallout from incursions: now that they are not spammable, people have no breadcrumb quests. You will have to beast through some inefficient questing, but once you unlock blackrock dailies, you will blast to 60 in a couple days.

Thank you very much for the info. I appreciate it! Thanks to everyone else too!

Of course!

And as a heads up. When you get to 60 there’s a great way to earn a bit of gold and scarlet enclave tier each week that I would highly recommend. It’s the first thing I would do on a fresh 60. When you get to 60 go to eastern plaguelands and do part of the quest chain for Scarlet Activites from undead dude named Bartholemeul in lights hope chapel. When you go back to the scarlet camp for the second time and are instructed to scout New Avalon get the disguise from the Inquisitor lady, pause on the quest chain. From that point you should get the disguise and go into new Avalon and avoid the hounds & any form of combat. Go straight through the gate towards the barracks/keep. On the right will be a weekly quest. Either purchase the cheapest lvl scarlet 60 wrists or craft the item he suggests each week (and then sell it). This will earn you sanctified scarlet enclave tier, reals, materials, and help you with catching up.

Don’t listen to that guy Thor he talks mass rubbish. SODS dwindling on life support atm due to terrible raid development once again. The numbers are down over the past 2 weeks again due to terrible content, So more or less the hype has already died off. Otherwise go for gold

You sound like customer service tryna rip people off at the same time :joy:

Holy butthurt. Also wrong and unprovable.

50-58 feel free to grind elites in hinterland. As spriest with decent gear you can hit 30-40min per level. Then finish attunement and bm dailies for 60.

Think this requires nax attune to be complete which requires you to be atleast honored with argent dawn. Fresh 60’s wont have the rep unless they got boosted through invasions.

I really wish there was a comprehensive list of all the new events/activities for SOD. Seems all online resources are only showing what the new phase 8 stuff is. But thank you for that info, I’ll look up what invasions are and get honored with argent dawn. Thank you!

Having leveled several characters to 60 and geared them, here is how I approach it currently:

Questing, general grinding, and standard pattern of normal Classic. Find zones of your level, use questie to help find quests if you need, and clear those up.
incursions daily for whatever level you are up to 53. Can also grind on mobs, the exp per kill is very nice.
At 55+ do blackrock dailies and try and get into BRD, Strath, LBRS, and Scholo runs for reals.

At 60 look to get gear through reals. Generally 6-piece T1 or 4 piece Dungeon set is effective. Only buy what you really need when it makes a set bonus, look to do MC and dungeons instead to save reals. Work towards 2 pieces of T2 once you lock down T1.

Holy buttface. Logs also looking terrible and provable

Lvl 20 troll confirmed

What I’m doing currently as complete new player on sod: Find dungeons farm reals and then try to get into something I can with the very little I had back then. If you’re healing you should have no problem finding groups as healers are always on demand. Be on the hunt for a guild at the same time that can also help you massively reach your goals! personally I havent found one yet but I’m still grinding dungeons for reals and sometimes joining a raid or two depending the raid I can join. You can also farm for rank 7 seal at 60 that’s the first thing I did when I hit 60… I must confess all of that can be skipped if you have thousands of gold at your disposal. Now my loop has become to watch mostly the LFG tab looking for stuff I need than anything else…

Good luck OP don’t be discouraged I know it’s overwhelming (it’s for me still considering that I’m still new) and at times when there’s no groups going on for the things I need I feel like logging off or create some alt too but give it time and atention and you will be in a much better spot! I’m at 6p t1 / 2p t2 with still blue weapon because I don’t have thousands to spend but it will take a while to get a weapon by the looks of it…

It does not. I have all my alts earning scarlet enclave tier

I could care less about the numbers and im perfectly fine with calling out bad designs by classic team. I think classic wow is the best version of wow and sod is the best version of classic. If new people want to come play then I’ll help them.

Also i don’t mean to inundate you with info but i just learned the scarlet enclave disguise crafted gear counts as sanctified which means you’ll be ready for naxx much sooner and can skip a few tiers of raiding if you would like to once you hit 60.

It’s arguably a less fun path but I would actually skip all of the t1-2.5 dungeon/raid grind and just blast that content when you’re more geared.

When you hit 60 and you finish the scarlet activites thing:

  1. Do invasion grinding with an argent dawn commission or level 1-2seal until you get 10 necrotic runes and 3150 remnants (about 11 shadows of doom turn ins)
  2. Get an “undead” cloth healing glove from lights hope chapel via the necrotic runes. Buy a “undead” set healing wrist from auction house if possible.
  3. check the price it would be for you to do the epic armaments turn in at lhc for another piece of sanctified. See if your guild will spot you if it’s cheap enough. craft cloth scarlet enclave disguise gear as needed to fill in your remaining 8/8 sanctified spots. You can get a lot of mats for this by doing Strat live for runecloth and orbs and ask your guild mates or a friendly stranger to help craft
  4. Slap on a shoulder enchant from lhc for a tier set bonus
  5. Raid naxx hm2 or hm3 (watch a resuvious mind control video ahead of time if you are not familiar on your priest)
