Am coming back after 2 plus years away, should I use the gear upgrade on my main, or will I lose too much story line etc? I see that it “cleans up” quest logs etc, so that is my worry, i do want to get back into it but dont want to miss backstory too much?

No, the gear upgrade thing is terrible. Don’t do it.
I think it just clears your quest log, the quests are still available should you go back to them.
The other thing it does is empty your bags and mail everything to you. So you start with a pretty empty, reset character.
It’s not a bad process. But you most certainly don’t need a new set of gear to get back into the fold. It won’t hurt, but it’s not necessary.
If you have a main, maybe don’t do it on the main, but when you get to your alts, it can well be worthwhile to refresh them.

You can keep your quests. It’s not forced to get rid of them.
There’s nothing bad about doing it.
It’s ok really.
You can select to keep or delete quests.
You get 4 bags (foreget, but think 24s).
Gear is about 30 levels higher.
Negatives.
You need to reset taskbars, etc.
take the upgrade…you also have an option to keep your quests.
There’s an option to keep your current quests, unless they removed that option.
