[Comcast PA] Major Lag Issues

I have also been having this issue. I’m on the east coast of Australia but play on multiple US servers (Mal’ganis, Wyrmrest Accord and Thrall) and the game is almost unplayable. Some instances I am in are totally fine including some Shadowlands places. I’ve even managed to do 2 Mythic+ dungeons totally fine without issue. But I’ve had 1 Mythic+ dungeon and a seemingly random chance whenever I enter a new zone to get a server where I have extreme latency. On these bad servers I am constantly alternating between no latency for 5 seconds to 2000+ ms for quite awhile. Doing a world boss my mod would inform me that the boss is dead while still on 50% life on my screen.

Disabling add-ons does nothing. Other games and Discord are totally fine.

Hello, what should i do now? You said nothing showed up weird on my test. I had my isp come out and check all my stuff, no issues there. I Uninstalled/re installed my game. Tried with no addons and still large world latency. All of my drivers are up to date as well on my pc. Is it at a point i just give up on the game until something comes of this??

See below ↓

Probably a dumb question but i have to ask. This telstra service, do they communicate with blizzard services? I’ve never heard of them so im not sure. If so, is it out of our hands as the players with these issues until this telstra and blizzard figure it out?

Looks like your thread was taken over by players posting from another region. I recommend opening a ticket so staff can look over your diagnostic files and try to find the lag cause, especially since they suspected an addon.

Telstra is the number 1 ISP in Australia, what Elocin is overlooking regarding the logs is that with every hop in Australia there is no packet loss, the hop to Telstra international also has no packet loss so this rules out the latency issues originating in Australia as we can get to the US problem-free, the packet loss happens for me in LA the HOP directly before the Blizzard servers

We’re discussing a US-based ISP, Comcast. The OP is using Comcast, not Telstra. The thread needs to be split off so troubleshooting is a bit clearer.

Howdy Súspect,

Sorry for not following up with you, I thought you meant that there wasn’t a problem when you disabled addons. If the problems persists after a UI reset with no addons, then there may be something else happening that needs to be investigating. Creating a support ticket as Elocin mentioned would be the next best step.

I agree. Hence why i was heavily lost lol. I use comcast on the east. To my knowledge from my test and my isp both say nothing is wrong. May try a VPN today to see if that helps??

You could try a VPN, but it doesn’t seem like this is a connection-related problem. I’d just go the ticket route. Sometimes digging in the files makes the issue apparent.

Massive issues even getting connected to Battlenet, then when I do get in I get random disconnects from Battlenet.

As I am writting this, my toon is dead in the well to the Maw, well not actually dead but in perpetual free fall.

I am also on Comcast on the east coast.
This issue has been happening for the past two days.
Resetting everything has done nothing.
I haven’t used an add on in years.

Did you happen to try another network, like a mobile hotspot or VPN?

i can try one, i was going to try NordVPN. can post if that fixes it later?

Nah I haven’t tried that yet,
I’m back in the game and the home and world latency are fine atm, I’m going to play while I can.
Next time it does it, i’ll try another network and see what that does.

I’m in MD, it’s been doing it for the last few days.
Did a full cvar reset with no addons enabled, it’s not an addon.

It’s a hop in Jersey dropping packets, which is weird af since it’s then going to somewhere in VA. Near as I understand it, it’s ultimately going to Chicago. My best guess is some dipstick messed with routing tables, but I haven’t been in that game for a while so I can’t say conclusively.

It’s very intermittent, it’s not local and it’s not on Blizzards end.

Edit: I take it back, I might have misdiagnosed.

That’s probably formatted like garbage and I don’t know how to get it to format in unicode on here, but the Ashburn hop is a shared link for both of us, and it’s getting intermittent total ploss. It’ll drop constantly for a while, then pop in, stay in, drop out for a few, stay up for a while, then drop out again, it’s not a constant drop rate. They’ve got a backbone issue. I’m not going to bother calling comcast about it, they’ll give me a run around. IDK what the solution is, they need to fix their hardware.

I’ve been out of this game for over 15 years, but the issue is definitely @ be-3311-pe11.ashburn.va.ibone.comcast.net and that’s definitely comcast backbone, not anyone at either end. Been sitting here watching it and it’ll just crap the bed for minutes at a time, if I were to guess I’d say they got a timing oscillator overheating, but that’s a shot in the dark.
