Combustion can no longer be purged!

:dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Solid win for mages. Now if only it didn’t take 12 seconds of combust to kill someone as fire solo :sob:

  • Fire
    • Combustion can no longer be dispelled.
      • Developers’ notes: We feel that the counterplay to Combustion, a major self-cast offensive cooldown, did not feel appropriate as it was easily dispelled. We are hoping with this change that it will prompt more creative solutions to counterplay the ability. We didn’t want to make this change previously, due to balance concerns, but now feel it is an appropriate time to bring it in line with other major cooldowns.

as it currently stands, only PI is the only offensive CD that can be purged.
well designed, blizz. zzzz

anyways tho, the pi that applies to the caster (the priest) should be undispellable, but the pi given to another player should be purgable.

Man talk about a…

More cooldowns should be purgeable, not fewer… Let people who pop things unthinkingly be punished.

kinda goes both ways tho

I think it is because of what you said in the next paragraph. Because you can give it to others, it is also exceptionally powerful!

My wish would be for Alter Time to not be purgeable/dispellable; and for temporal shield to work with cancel macros (like it used to be).

oh ya it’s absolutely because we give it to others. but it shouldn’t be purgable on ourselves. it’s one of our biggest cooldowns and by contrast, isn’t as impactful as combust (ON OURSELVES) since it’s just a haste buff.

it’s no different than afflock darksoul or icyveins. bad time to ask for this given the state of the spec, but this is more so a long term request for when spriest isnt actually overpowered.

combust was an immediate burst that continued to do high damage for the whole duration. all while all 3 people are generally in full cc. haste buffs are just that… haste

Just wait until Setback gets sick of using Iceblock offensively against other mages and then realizes he can’t spellsteal their combustion. Then we’ll hear more about it

Nah, it’s okay. VT and DP only heal for 30% of the damage now. Spriests are 100% completely balanced. :grimacing:

We do not need less counterplay in the game, guys.

Being able to purge combustion wasn’t counter-play, it provided significant advantages to mainly priest and shaman teams who could just spam purge for free

Inb4 just cc - of course you would cross cc but sometimes that first purge would get bust. That’s a bad form of RNG imo

Alter should stay purgable tho since it can be reactivated by the mage.

Maybe it’s just me, but when combustion was super dangerous and you had to stop the damage immediately purging it never felt like an option anyway. You ground/ams/los/whatever as a guaranteed answer to it and not try to rng it off. It being purgeable was just bad in really uncoordinated scenarios like bg’s and shuffle.

You realize every mage is like arcane now my friend. The fire dream is naught but embers these days. I’ll still be here keeping it going though

well it’s your fault for not cc’ing them before popping it

it just rewards bad mages who don’t utilize their utility properly. if they tune around this change tho, fair play. combust shouldnt ever be as spooky as it was before. fire should actually have some damage outside of it.

maybe then it can play more than like 2 comps

What’s that? I can’t hear your retort through Blessing of Spellwarding :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Why is spellwarding classified as magic though if it can’t be dispelled anyway?

also i dont wanna hear anything about priests being able to spam purge combust when it’s a high risk to even cast our own offensive cd due to their own purge that STEALS IT!

smh my head…

Idk why is Combustion classified as magic if it can’t be dispelled?

Is it still though? Iirc [Icy Veins] and old [Arcane Power] got the spell buff classification removed. My nameplates keep signaling spellwarding as magic and sometimes I forget and try dispelling it but they ignore the other two.
