Combine magic the gathering and WoW

Bored in class thinking what if we removed factions and instead had something similar to guilds of ravnica from mtg. Allow players to align more so with ideologies that fit them. Create individual stories and rewards tied into the guilds similar to class halls in legion. It’s been sorta done with the aldor and scryer from TBC why not expand upon it?

I dont hate Magic enough to condemn them to such a fate.

So what I am getting out of this is for WoW to add a new gathering profession that allows you to harvest magic?

Of course gotta feed my mana addiction! Or with inscription give them the chance to make actual mtg cards.

The Alliance and Horde are staple to the identity of this game.

Blizzard already confirmed and said they will never end the faction war. The factions are only going to continue to exist as well.

This is a nice request though. If it did change I don’t want the FFXIV way of doing things. :face_vomiting:

Keep the rigid factions but just have more than the Alliance and Horde.

I don’t think we can justify having a MTG system because this is a different universe.

“You can just make it happen.” Literally yeah. They could just make it happen and change it to be that way but as it stands it’s not that way. So keep it that way.

I see your point here. I think it would be interesting if we had more interpersonal sociopolitical stories intertwined though rather than just Red vs Blue.

Guilds with unique ideologies and codes are not just an MTG concept its more of an example.

How would you do simic, rakdos, or golgari? Most people would be the elf white/green faction though i would be orzhov

I think it just comes down to each guild portraying themes that resonates with the players personalities. Simic for example is about preserving nature, elemental forces and growth. Definitely a guild that would probably appeal more to druid or shaman players but any player could care about the natural balance of the world.

Some races only joined the Horde because a different group shared an ideology/philosophy. I would not exactly be opposed to this.

With all the recent vulpera hate I reckon we should wait awhile for leonin XD

Id prefer if they kept the main factions, but let players join smaller sub factions based on how they wanted their characters to be. It wouldn’t affect the overall story but would provide fun for RP and maybe some cosmetic rewards depending on your faction choice.

Some examples are:

Druids joining the Druids of the Flame. Maybe getting access to the fire animal forms.

Paladins/Priests joining the Scarlet Monastery and gaining access to some of the unique transmog they have etc.

I would personally love this.

The classes ideas should work similar to the guilds

Love it. One problem I foresee is balancing out the unique rewards and make them enticing enough so one sub faction wouldn’t be overpopulated because the have a cooler faction mount.

Yeah, I can see there being some brainstorming required to make them all sort of equal in terms of rewards.

I think what I would like to do is have more interaction with neutral groups. im burnt out on dealing with H vs A and want to see some of the rest of the worlds and the people dealing with those things.

Then again I generally dont get too engaged in faction storylines to begin with, the concept of having pride for one side over another is odd to me. Its just a story so i would like to see more world building.

The thing that teleport’s me in my bag?
