Combat Stamina bars?

You engage in combat and have a stamina bar for movement. Replenishes via standing still, at reduced rate while walking, and drinks with a relatively short cooldown.

Would definetly change every aspect of the game in a huge way.

Please don’t flame me but negative opinions are definetly welcome. As I would like to discuss all viewpoints and my own short sightedness.

No thanks.

Any reasons why? Not interested so much about support but rather discussion.

Rogues would have a significantly hard time.

That sounds disgusting and boring.

Becomes more RPG? We like fast pace and big numbers.
But I like the idea. With the movement conditions in the Maw, i guess we’ll see if this idea is a gogo or nono

Hello. I am a Mage.
I stand still and turret for eternity anyway.
A “stamina bar” like you’re suggesting just nerfs everyone else. Especially when some Frost-specced jerkwad (for example, myself) slows their movement into the 40% range.

I’d rather mana actually matter again. I honestly don’t even know why most casters even have a mana bar. Only healers and arcane mages seem to be able to run out of mana.

No. Not a chance. The closest possible thing i could even imagine working in wow is a progressive damage buff that increases when you are standing still, but nothing ever that prevent you from being able to move.

I enjoy how fluid wow is with movement, all this would do is reduce the enjoyment of the game.

No. Wow wasn’t built with this in mind, and it would honestly make things tedious.

If anything, Blizzard adding tons of 70 to 90% slows and nerfing movement consumables / on use items has been bad enough.

Don’t normally stamina is reserved for sprinting? and not just running? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I don’t mind a dedicated sprint button…

…that mimics like the other games where you can tap or hold it and go from running to sprinting with limited stamina/energy to regen. But used for simple movement or running? i’m gonna have to pass on that one.

Ehhhhh… no thanks.

There are already so many movement-impairing effects in place to make combat sluggish as is; no need to make it even more slow. Every class has a slow to toss at enemy players, many many mobs have slows. Hell, the first corruption impact is a slow.

Suddenly switching to “walk” would be the same thing as a predictable slow effect now.

This seems to be something that would basically only exist to slow people down with no positive aspects to it.

I didn’t like when they added Stamina to Zelda, I know I wouldn’t like in here. Or anywhere else.

Nothing says “epic adventure!” like having your character slump over, huffing and puffing like a fat asthmatic in the middle of a fight.

Could you imagine Arms and Fury if we had a stamina bar? we would have to stop for a smoke and a sausage roll after three attacks.

Needs to fit the style of game, and that does not work here.

This ain’t Dark Souls.

I feel like this would appeal to ranged players much more than melee players.

It would lead to situations that feel terrible, like players just standing around doing nothing during a boss fight because they might need to move for a mechanic within the next 5 seconds.

It would definetly make the player consider positioning more.

Any reason why you feel this way? Not looking for support and dislike but rather discussion.

Ideally the stamina bar would only activate while in combat, so it would prevent players from haphazardly running past mobs for sure. Definetly requires the player to more logically approach a situation. The stamina bar would be for full run speed and depletion would be more of a job so like 25% speed reduction.

Yeah I could see how that would be an issue, although stamina bars could be balanced for individual classes. Casters would definely have substantially less stamina than certain melee classes would.

Not a bad idea. Perhaps an auto attack buff for maintaining posture and casting speed increase for maintaining focus.

It would definetly require more strategic though of player placement before, during and after combat for sure.

In its current state for sure it would be a huge undertaking to balance this for the entirety of the game. Perhaps it could be an addition to future content or instanced based for some content like dungeons or raids or exclusively boss battles.

Well if the player was slowed and moving a certain percentage less than 100% this would also decrease the decay of the stamina bar. Where as 50% movement speed would stop it entirely and walking speed would start replenishment but at a reduced rate from standing still.

This would be interesting but players characters are already in somewhat of a half sprint to begin with, compared to walking speed. Between those two would be a jog imo.

It would definetly have to be balanced to replenish while under a certain percent of a slow. Technically it would only decay at full running speed.

I feel like it would require players to be more strategic in positioning and engagement of mob packs and boss fights. It adds a layer of difficulty imo.

Lol that made me chuckle irl. Im sure warriors would have substantial stamina bars verses other classes considering warriors require very good cardio!

Well obviously this isn’t dark souls, nor did that game create stamina bars. Lol. It would definetly be an idea for future content. I feel like it would add a strategic element to encounters and player positioning. Stamina bars being different for different specs and classes of course.

Each class and spec would have different stamina bars of course. Melee having the highest since they are the most fluid. I can see ranged having a tougher time if they forget to stay in range while avoiding mechanics. As far as standing around doing nothing. That would reflect the players inability to have good resource management during an encounter and would be another thing to pay attention to while maximizing performance.

Movement is fun. No movement is not fun. Ask wheel chair ret and spriests.
