Combat feels outdated needs update

So been playing this game for a week and there is something that just doesn’t feel Right It’s the combat It is just outdated and needs to be updated Now I was thinking if they could put in a combat system Like ESO and GW2 more on the GW2 were it is a Tab Target action combat hybrid that way it makes the new players that come over from those type of games can play without the feeling that the combat is out of date and slow and Tedious. And all the wow vets out there will not have to change a thing and still feel at home. it will cater to both types of players.

I can see why you’d say slow and tedious. It’s not until you get to max level you really have to dodge things.

Tab target style combat does feel a bit antiquated at this point.

Outdated and different gameplay are not synonymous. I’m fine with WoWs combat, I’m fine with ESO/GW2. But I prefer how WoW and to some extent FF does combat. I would prefer to keep it.

I do at times miss Wildstar’s telegraph system and epically dodging out of the way. But just can’t picture my priest diving out of the way and trying to recover to blast away without giggling.

I disagree, the responsiveness of WoW’s combat is unmatched in my opinion.

One thing they could fix how their tab target works. Have it work outward from the character in a radial fashion with an option to have it either work outward either clockwise or counter clockwise.

I have played many MMOs. WoW has some of the best combat and movement. What are you even going on about. If anyone disagrees name that MMO.

You really going to drop ESOs combat in a suggestion for improvement and not flinch, huh?

Tera had a much better combat system then World of Warcraft. Obviously the entire debate revolves around personal preferance. Whether Tera was the best ever or not can be debated, but I would take the combat there over WoW any day of the week.

Could be a good idea, could not be a bad idea. It is a nice debate. Sadly, Blizzard too busy with Dragonflight, WOTLK classic and the mobile game, along with 9.2.5 to implement that but do keep debating it, maybe Blizzard update it one day. Cheers!

As long as it’s not FF14 combat
Its too much animation and flash to the point I have to turn off the animations for all other players just so I can see what’s happening

I’m of the opinion that WoW’s combat is fine for what it is. It fits within an industry niche.

I don’t think Blizzard should be trying to turn this into an action game with tab-target combat, though. They really should lean into the strategy and RPG character building mechanics instead. Tab target combat just doesn’t lend itself well to an action combat design philosophy.

Everyone pretty much does this in FFXIV. Their combat and targeting system improved a lot with Endwalker.

If this game were to ever go the GW2 route I would most likely quit. There’s a reason GW2 isn’t on top.

The servers are shutting down in June of this year, so read a bit.

All Tera servers will be deactivated on 30th June 2022 at 10:00 AM CEST.

The reason the game is shutting down has nothing to do with combat, and everything to do with mismanagement of in game resources. The developers were a day late and a dollar short when it came to how players were able to attain the end game gear. Not to mention, end game content was literally recycled dungeons that would go through mob revision and difficulty alteration instead of new content.

But sure, “hur dur, combat rueeened the gaem.”
