I cant believe how everyone is falling for this “We want to make the game better by removing combat addon talk.”
Does anyone want to know why they are removing combat addons? Its the only barrier to releasing the game on consoles such as Xbox & PlayStation. Combat addons would be an advantage for players on PC’s.
Releasing this game on console is going to make the game much worst especially at the higher end of PVE. Look what happened to diablo when it went cross platform. Longer development cycles and patch cycles due to the need to validate the code on all platforms. Your also going to get dumbed down content. Content that’s easier.
This is about money. Blizzard wouldn’t be trying to fix 20 years of code if it wasn’t for money.
WAKE UP PEOPLE! They can take my addons over my cold dead body.
Your really doing the player base favors here buddy. Lets stick up for a multi trillion dollar companies financial decisions that will negatively impact you.
The devs wouldnt make stupid changes if we all stood up to them with one voice. Its happened many times before in this and other games over the last several years.
Look, I’m all for the “down with corps and power to the little guys” but one day wow will shut down and all the time and effort you put into your characters/account will be gone with absolutely nothing to show for it.
That’s why it’s asinine when people get so defensive about bringing back stuff like MT weapons.
While more theoretical and probably involves more hoops than it should, it should definitely be possible to install add-ons on consoles. If BG3 can have a mod interface for consoles, so can WoW have an add-on interface.
So this feels like an excuse and lie you’re telling yourself.
The other reasons, particularly the negative effect is has on how the game is designed around players having add-ons rather than them being a nice optional feature has been causing problems for years. Some things will have to be stepped up because there’s still shortcomings in the default UI and encounter design, but the steps are already starting to be made.
Regardless, WoW is most likely heading for consoles whether you like it or not.
Money is definitely the reason, a larger audience would bring in more of it.
But increasing WoW’s playerbase is not an inherently bad thing.
There’s no need to be dramatic about it.
Either that, or if add-ons are such a big deal that them being removed is a definite deal-breaker for you? Well, there’s an argument that the game might be better off without you.

Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,

Found my way upstairs and had a smoke.
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream.
