Color Code the server list please

Have it be a spectrum from red - purple - blue, based on faction balances. Red shades heading towards purple changing to blue with current online faction populations.

Thanks!

this is not a terrible idea…

nothing sucks more than grinding 10+ days played only to find out your horde on a 90% alliance server

IMO, a combination of two colors into purple would sorta confuse things, while a contrast color like white would be a better middle.

For example, make it pink if slightly higher horde, teal if slightly higher alliance.

Agreed this sounds like a reasonable idea a mood ring server color wheel If you will

Perhaps they could change it to green yellow red… familiar colors with many people. Green for alliance yellow for balanced red for horde (then a bar showing how far to one color a server is)

Blizz will never do this for the same reason they’ve never released official server census information even once in 15 years.

The reason is simple: People want to be on the winning team.

For every one of you concerned about maintaining a proper balance and an “optimal” play experience for both sides, I promise you there’s another who would love nothing more than to hop onto the side that’s stacked.

By broadcasting which side is favored in such a public way, it leads to the potential of exacerbating, rather than resolving the issue.

It’s a pretty interesting idea really!

Red for Horde, Blue of Alliance… I’m not sure what the tones would look like for people with color blindness, but I’m sure something could be achieved.

As an aside, I’m curious how faction balance metrics are calculated though. Like is it number currently logged in? Number of characters made? Number of accounts? Are there level ranges? etc…

Planetside 2 does this. Shows the population for all 3 factions, but you do run into the issue of “Well, The NC are highest pop right now, so I’ll just jump over there to win”. They do sort of combat this though with login queues for specific factions, and also they have like 3/4 separate continents that have a pop limit per faction. I don’t think the WoW player base would like that though lol.

This is a terrible idea. Unless all you want is red and blue realms; it would be really effective at that though.

I don’t think make the colors the same as those of a traffic light would be any better than blue-purple-red.
It’d be like the current colors used for low, med, and high pop realms. Green is like saying “go”, yellow is “be cautious”, red is “stop”

Unless you’re wanting more alliance players on your server, I don’t think its a great idea
