Collector's Edition?

Unless there is a newer revelation, old is all we have to go with.

That doesn’t mean we can’t voice our opinions.

Not sure where you got the impression I was shutting down opinion conversations. I was simply adding the 1 piece of dev (opinion) on the topic.

Considering the fact you actually quoted me in it, well, it came off like that.

I’d be satisfied if they just sent me a brand new empty WoW box with a sticky note on the front that said “Classic.”

OH, I can see how that came off like that. I didn’t mean for the confusion. The Dev quote was in reply to you. Wasn’t me quoting you. I edited that out.

So, based on the blue, its entirely possible they’ll allow some sort of digital purchase, or that they simply won’t exist in the game.

I’ll add this to the list of things I don’t care about either way

Classic is not vanilla, and vanilla turned into retail, so the classic game has nothing to do with your retail, therefore nothing from either side will appear in the other.

The Blue’s thinking is, the collectors edition is a stand alone product and was claimed with the game it was intended. (or still can be claimed). Classic being a new product will not have cross game connections.

If there is a CE pet it will be a Classic Collector’s Edition pet that does not span into Live WoW.

Unless they announce otherwise prior to launch.

Would be really cool to get a physical collectors edition. Even if it didn’t contain a game disc, because it really doesn’t need to.

Maybe there’s some unreleased vanilla art, concepts, interviews or something that could bundle in with it.

I hope they have a CE, and it should absolutely have new pet options.

Heresy! Gimme sleepy panda or I quit!

Then it’s not authentic.

It’s literally carrying over from one game to another. You bought something for Vanilla, which you still have, can still use to this very day, this very second. And you want it carried over to Classic.

You mean like the WoW Diary by John Staats?

That is a valid argument.

But it also is a valid argument that my “Vanilla Experience” included the presence of the Collector’s Edition Pet at my side during Vanilla’s run.

So if Blizzard is trying to give me an “authentic Experience” then I should have the CE pet available to me once again.

Likewise, others encountering the CE pets was part of their experience with the Game. If nobody has the CE pets, then those players won’t have “an authentic Experience” either.

Which indicates “somebody” probably should have access to those pets in Classic WoW. The question is who and how.

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind having the bagslot available. But I would like it to be possible for people to see those pets running alongside somebody. (And freak out when Mini-Diablo starts spewing fire)

As it stands, the CE pets exist in a space where they’re likely to be unobtainable for anybody playing classic. Which won’t be authentic. But we can’t have everything.

Ultimately, it’s going to be Blizzard’s call, they’re aware of the issue, and at present all we know is it is “unlikely” that the Vanilla CE holders will get those pets a second time.

Edit: An additional issue is that “base game license” required for me to play WoW Classic?

It happens to be that very same Vanilla CE License.

So that means everyone gets their characters restored? I get the gear back I had in Vanilla?

No, you earn all that stuff anew. Just like a CE pet. And I hope they offer a collector’s edition. And I hope it’s brand new pets. Let people who bought the original have that unique pet…in the game they bought it for. Which wasn’t Classic.

I’m happy with either of the 3 options, just wondering, and we’ve had one option eliminated.

Yup, you can have your character restored to exactly how it was when you first logged into the game, at level 1.

I just wouldn’t mind if my character was exactly how it was when I first logged into the game as well.
