What the hell???

Explain blizzard!!!

Without sample size, we can’t be certain about the outliers.
But the data does show the +5% increase on pretty much everything, so what’s your point?

They have error bars in the post.

if you read the post, they say anything under 4% has issues which includes 6 mounts

Yeah, some are 16% higher. He’s trying to be a victim, but it’s a stretch.

It’s just really uncool Blizzard.

I do realize that, but that’s their estimate.
I’d need the sample size to calculate for different CIs.

Some mounts cannot be dropped for players who already have them. This can lead to a lower-than-expected drop percentage for these mounts when soloing.
This mostly applies to mounts from Legion through Shadowlands.

It’s too bad we’ll never get the full details from Blizzard themselves. They’ve always been cagey about drop rates for anything that’s not 100% for some reason.

Initial announcement for the event said ‘up to 10x increase’ with one mention of a 25x increase, then a followup post mentioned +5% to the drop rate, and now we have Wowhead providing unofficial data (though provided by players) that indicates the actual buff is neither of the things Blizz announced, because most mounts are still below a 5% drop rate and a couple are nearly 20%.

It seems like they still went with applying a multiplier rather than a flat increase, but there are also the noted mounts that seem to not have any increase applied at all. But at any rate, Wowhead’s data is unofficial and they’ve noted in the past that sometimes drop rates can be incorrectly reported in their database for various reasons.

Because it keeps people playing.

Eh, I don’t really follow the reasoning for that. People would also ‘keep playing’ if they could get notified of a 5% drop rate from Blizzard themselves rather than looking it up on Wowhead, wouldn’t they?

They did lol.

They’re using a 95% CI which is common. What CIs do you think are more useful?

90 or 99%.
95% is the norm, yes, but I like seeing all the possibilities for the data.

Maybe even estimating using something other than normal pdf for fun XD.

I mean in general. Outside of the advertised buff for this event, we don’t know what the normal drop rates for any of this stuff is, nor do we know what the drop rates are during the event. Blizz doesn’t tell us, and it doesn’t really make sense to me as to why since I don’t see knowing really changing anything versus keeping it a secret.

?

One mount and only a small sample size of data… Come on dude…

Also, lets say it’s not buffed as it should be. Thats called a bug. You report that. The fact that you immediately jump to “Blizzard is lying!” When thats clearly not the case is just really sad.

Explains why the nighthold ones never seem to drop

We have a pretty hood indicator based upon the sample. Giving the exact drop rate would just be a lightning rod for the already insufferable, and if they came right out and said the drop rate is exactly 5%, people would run it twenty times and scream bloody murder if it doesn’t drop.

yep, me and a few others struggling with the green one in particular. I have 17 chars to been farming it on, on 3 difficulties. I was initially suspicious about the drop rates on these mounts and now I see this article.
