Put in a ticket in-game to try to get an answer. Response was just "we don't know if this pet is in game or not."

Dozens of post/comments about this pet in island expedition/pet battle forums, would really appreciate a solid answer.
Also would appreciate someone looking into the drop rate of this battle pet. Is it bugged or just really, really rare? Would like some clarification. At the moment, it's looking like it's bugged.

I was wondering this as well as I am a huge pet collector and am doing Island Expeditions all the time for the pets.
It is 100% not in the game -- I'm running Island Expeditions daily (30+) with friends/guildies - no one has seen it. Could it possibly been changed/broken when they did they "drop rate increase"?

Here is a list of Murloc / Oracles I have killed (Murlocs feature in both of these creature types)

In 270 normal, 17 heroic, 5 mythic islands:

Normal Murlocs / Oracles

I’ve received different responses from GMs in regards to this pet - one states that they reached out to a “friend” who is one of the top 10 pet collectors in the US and they had this pet. They run about 25 IEs a week…
Another response: The GM did some investigating but so far wasn’t able to verify any info about if it was dropping correctly or even the drop rare for it.

So which is it? Is it possibly bugged OR has the entire community with this exception of this one “friend” just had terrible luck?

Finally got a good response from a GM.

First response from a GM patronized me saying the drop rate isn’t 100%, and linked me to wowhead’s coldlight surfrunner page.

This triggered me so I said “I still have a problem” and said “Did you even read the comments on that wowhead page?! They all have the same issue! I know you can’t fix it but at least let the dev’s know it’s an issue!”

Then I got:

Greetings ***,
Game Master ********* here!

First of all thank you for reaching out to us with your concern,

It looks like the item “Coldlight Surfrunner” is bugged at the moment :frowning:

We have informed our devs on this issue, thank you for reporting this bug to us and we hope the QA Engineers team will get a fix on this issue as soon as possible!

Thank you for your patience and understanding, we apologize for the inconveniences!

If there’s anything else you need from us, feel free to contact us again.

Best,

Glad to hear a GM finally provided an actual response. Sad to hear that the pet is indeed bugged. (Although, tbh, GMs have provided conflicting information before, so I guess take it with a grain of salt.)

Here’s hoping the pet drop rate is fixed soon. Probably unlikely that it’ll get sorted before the end of this week’s IE rotation though. (cries murloc mobs, don’t goooo!)

Please, please fix this issue as soon as possible. Expeditions are one of the only things I love about this expansion and the title being impossible to acquire is really souring me on it.

Same here, man.

Hello!

We’ve looked at this concern, and I can confirm for you that nothing is amiss. There are different Murloc tribes in Azeroth, and so far, the kind of Murlocs that could drop Coldlight Surfrunner have not appeared on Island Expeditions.

Really? We have literally seen Coldlight Murlocs with the exact same skin as the pet on Whispering Reef last week, along with rares. And also multiple tier 1 Coldlight Murlocs invasions on multiple isles. This is hard to believe, but I hope it’s true.

I appreciate you taking the time to look into this matter. Thank you.

In the future, I think it would be much more helpful if situations like this were clarified sooner. Many have been inquiring, and it’s frustrating that we’ve only started getting responses (even some incorrect/inaccurate responses) now.

Yes, we’re meant to “discover” the mechanics ourselves. However, after this much time has passed (~3 months) and not a sighting or a word despite all other pets being found, the fun is drained from the hunt. Some have felt like they were doing something wrong, and arguments/debates have sprung up all over this pet. I think it’s only natural many had come to the conclusion that the pet was bugged.

Glad to hear that it’s not bugged, though, and we simply need to wait for the right mobs to appear in IEs. Is there a reason why all other pets have been discovered and this one is taking such a long time? It feels somewhat out of place relative to the other IE pets/cosmetics.

There was not a shred of truth in this response. All scheduled invasions (Tol’vir, Twilight dragons, Old gods etc… had already come to pass. There was no further invasions announced. It was bugged plain and simple, just like diablo 3 cosmetics that were never in game, or arms warrior hidden artifact that was added in 7.1. At least Wyatt Cheng apologised for the cosmetics being unobtainable. Twice now wow’s team have decided to lie instead “No one in the world got arms warrior appearance in 7.0, but it was there we promise!” Sigh…

Exactly my thought. This will be proved by never having any new murloc race on isles besides Coldlight, Murkfin and Dampscale which have all appeared on Islands already.

Why did blizzard go to such great lengths to go as far as making a bogus story ? Their is no plausible truth to the statement they have made here. This seems to already be confirmed however with an update that this now drops from every murloc type, which still needs to be proven given the circumstances.
