Coffer Keys mistake

This about resetting the coffer keys is a huge mistake.
Lots of the keys and especially the ones on alts were obtained through reputation rewards. If you remove those keys, these chars cannot obtain them back through rep. Instead, literally, the next day of the patch, a new alt will be able to obtain all of the rep keys you removed.

Resetting keys is absolutely the correct move, but they should probably also reset the quests for claiming keys from rep at the same time to avoid this weird issue where characters that didn’t claim them yet are at an advantage.

Yeah, I fully expected a reset honestly. I mean I’ve got 40+ keys on each of my two mains as it is. I was going to burn them on bountiful keys before the new season to use undercoins to buy those reagent boxes to sell when S2 drops. I didn’t think Blizzard would allow us to go into S2 with a billion keys to gear up even faster.

That being said, yeah they should do something about the rep keys that may potentially be lost.

I understand a reset, but my issue is the the rewards from the rep as I described.

It will have to be a new currency or if the newly leveled chars get them to have a solution for it. Imagine someone new getting them as rewards and having much easier time getting into delves against someone who was playing non-stop for the first patch.

Sure, hopefully something can be done to balance it out a bit.

We have had a long time to make use of those keys though. But if a key remains unused, could it be retained or upgraded somehow. But then that also brings up the issue of how do you differentiate between one time rep bonus keys and weekly quest keys.

Maybe they could issue one or two new keys based on rep, but I don’t know if that would make sense or be feasible.

I did just go back and double check to see if any factions had 2 coffer keys as rewards and glancing through them I only saw 1 per faction.

So if someone took none of them in S1 and was able to get 4 keys for S2, that would be an extra week’s worth at the start. After week 2 or 3, that likely wouldn’t mean much as the people truly pushing would probably have champion in most slots.

Even if you used the keys, it will still be unfair for someone new to get the free keys from rep while you will have to grind them from other sources only.

It’s likely going to be a small enough difference, especially after week 2/3, that it won’t matter. Especially if it’s a new alt that someone is creating since they will have to get some baseline gear while the rest of us with established characters will be able to get champion and potentially hero track gear right away.

So you’re saying that they should penalize established characters, just because we didn’t quit playing in 1st tier or we were present. That’s not a logic and even if it’s a small difference it’s a matter. No such tiny or big handicap should exist in the game.

No, that’s not what I said at all. Stop trying to twist words.

I will reiterate what I did say though. The difference that these keys will make will likely be minimal, especially after week 2 and beyond. Established characters may also be really well geared which will allow them to jump into higher difficulty levels at the start of the season which will likely negate the bonus from the extra coffer keys.

If you’re going to try and put words in my mouth, you can have fun debating yourself because no one else is engaging with this thread.

I’m not trying to twist words. It’s just that my opinion that there should not be any difference or impact, big nor minimal. So they should make sure that there is not a single handicap on anything for anyone.

Again, this is not something that I like. The fact that you are a higher geared and established character doesn’t mean that you will not have to farm the keys.

If you’re not trying to twist words, then why did you claim I said this?

Please show me where I said that.

At the start, I even said it would be nice if they figured out a balanced way to fix the problem. However, I don’t expect that and the impact will likely be minimal or even possibly overshadowed if a character already has decent gear.

Anyway, good luck. I’m out.

This in my opinion is penalizing the geared characters. You said that the difference that these keys will make will likely be minimal, which I agree with. What I don’t like is that they allow it to happen. I simply don’t wanna have any kind of difference or handicap for any characters.
